About the Show

Ramsay's Boiling Point is a British documentary mini-series produced by London Weekend Television which follows celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay as he opens a new restaurant with the express aim of achieving three Michelin stars.

It was Ramsay's first foray into television and was followed up with another mini-series - Beyond Boiling Point - in 2000.

Ramsay's Boiling Point originally aired in the UK on Channel 4 in 1998. There are five half-hour episodes in the series.

The series originally aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Food channel from 16 October to 13 November, 2006, on Mondays at 21h00.

A rebroadcast of the series premiered on BBC Food on Saturday 5 July 2008, at 21h00. Double episodes air back-to-back each week.

Synopsis

In this five part fly-on-the-wall documentary series, Gordon Ramsay - formerly of the Aubergine Restaurant - is closely followed during eight of the most intense months of his life as he strives to create a restaurant which will earn him the highly prestigious (and rare) three Michelin Stars.

In the series, the uncompromising chef ejects Hollywood legend Joan Collins and esteemed restaurant critic A.A. Gill from his premises.

Join Ramsay a few days after his Aubergine walkout and watch the refurbishment and opening of his new restaurant. A series of first night calamities ensure the tempers will fly.

The show also features Ramsay's one-time mentor Marco Pierre White, who famously brought the hard man to tears early in his career.
