Season 1

Crazed Out is a South African youth game show which was devised by Red Pepper Pictures, the production company that produces e.tv's daily youth programming block, Craz-e.

The weekly half-hour show was live and interactive, with celebrity guests, wacky presenters and prizes valued at R2,000 per episode.

The series was hosted by Zola Hashatsi, while co-presenters Gillian Hughes and Pearl Modiadie alternated their appearances every week.

Crazed Out premiered on e.tv on Thursday 3 May 2007, at 15h30. New episodes aired weekly.

The show is split into five segments:

1. Quiz Mania

Quiz Mania is a zany general knowledge contest with categories such as Just Plain Craze, Strictly for Girls, Hip-Hop till you Drop, and Movie Mania.

2. Studio Survey

Viewers can get interactive with the presenters by accessing a SMS hotline number (33976).

3. It's a Blur

A blurred image is shown and viewers can call the live studio hotline (083 900 CRZE) and guess what the photograph actually depicts. If they get it right they win various cash prizes.

4. Playtime

A presenter has an on-air challenge with either a fellow presenter, a celebrity, or a viewer. These challenges are timed, and change every week. This is the section where we let it all hang out. Some examples include:

Rubbish Bag Art: Each challenger is given a waste bag and tape to make a designer outfit.

Taste This: Contestants get to eat all sorts of foods from whole chilli peppers to lemons.

Tune Dance: Contestants dance to imaginary music and the viewers guess which song the contestants actually have in their heads.

Pole Dancing: Contestants run around a pole and when given the cue they have to run towards a certain object in the room. The one who gets there without stumbling, wins.

Row on the Floor: Here contestants have to row on the floor, except there's no water or a boat.

In The Mix: The bravest celebs appear on screen without any makeup; contestants read a page backwards in the quickest amount of time – from the last word on a page, to the first; races with laces tied together; and the best impromptu phone conversations.

5. Brain Teaser

Viewers can call in and attempt to solve a tangled brain twister. If they guess the answer correctly, they instantly win a prize.
