Gola and team are back for another controversial season of Late Nite News on e.tv and eNews Channel
Tuesday, 8 May 2012 at 9PM

South Africa’s favourite satirical news show is back - and promises to expose more political blunders and reveal side-spitting truths every Tuesday from 8 May in its new timeslot of 9PM on e.tv and the eNews Channel. (Seasons 1 to 3 aired on Wednesdays at 9:30PM.)

Loyiso Gola Season 4

Now in its fourth season Late Nite News (LNN) with Loyiso Gola will once again offer viewers even more entertaining shows combined with their sharp and satirical reports from South Africa and abroad.

LNN news anchor, Loyiso Gola will once again be joined by David Kibuuka, the reluctant foreign correspondent who generally hates his assignments, loathes the country he has been sent to and complains about being underpaid.

Also part of this season’s cast is Chester Missing who is widely considered to be one of the most annoying and tempestuous puppets to offer political commentary in South Africa.

LNN will also be introducing some exciting new acts throughout Season Four to showcase the growth of satirical comedy in South Africa.

Group Head of News, Patrick Conroy, says “I can’t wait to have them back. We need to laugh at ourselves as a country once again. It is so easy to lose one’s sense of humour when costs are rising and politicians are bickering. LNN reminds us all not to take things too seriously. It has also taught us that comedy can educate the public about important political developments by simplifying issues and cutting out the spin.”

The show has a format based loosely on international spoof and parody news shows, which LNN has customised and personalised to cater to local audiences, drawing in viewers from all demographic spheres.

“Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola delivers all the key notes that South Africans crave - entertainment, humour and debate”, says Monde Twala, Channel Head of e.tv. “With the top local comedians dishing out the news and views, audiences can expect more of the Gola endorsed humour that has seen the show reach iconic status in p previous seasons.”

Loyiso Gola, the face of LNN, has been bringing South Africans to tears with his humorous banter and sharp wit for years. His award-winning performances have also graced international stages in London, Dubai and New York and have carved his reputation as a highly opinionated, acutely observant and brutally honest voice of comedy.

Gola has a string of awards and a history of successful TV shows in his stable, and this institution of humour is set to take LNN to new heights.

“South Africa’s current political climate seems to be in a transformative state which gives us a lot of opportunity to generate some very interesting comic material. The show has allowed us to get people laughing about issues which affect and vex them but also to start thinking more critically and independently about these issues. If it’s making news the LNN team will bring it to the cynical forefront,” says Tamsin Andersson, LNN Producer. “With the show now in its fourth season, we are acutely aware of what our audiences want and promise to deliver just that and more.”

“This season on Late Nite News we promise no-one is safe from our roving eyes - from politicians, to CEO’s and criminal masterminds - anyone who has the misfortune of ending up in the news….the LNN team will bring the truth to you,” assures Gola. “We are back, and the fourth season is guaranteed to be the best one yet!”

The season four premier of Late Nite News will air on e.tv as well as the eNews Channel on Tuesday, 8 May at 9PM.

Repeat episodes will be aired on the eNews Channel on Wednesdays at 3:30PM and at 11:30PM; Fridays at 9:30AM and 9:30PM and again on Saturdays at 4:30PM and at 11:30PM.
