Do you sing in a restaurant or pub? Are you the local karaoke star? Are you a regular background or session singer? Or even an established singer?

Noot vir Noot and Musiek Roulette production house Stemmburg Television is on a search for singers who can hold a tune for a new musical game show titled Oppi Noot.

As you may know, Noot vir Noot is an original South African format and this series is too, except it won't be on SABC2 but on kykNET - with Noot vir Noot host Emo Adams. Do we spot side-eyes in this equation? Wethinks we do.

The format

How is it different from Noot vir Noot and other game shows?

This from Emo:

"This is a game show specifically for singers. The goal is not to test music knowledge or singing abilities but rather to see how participants fare with singing-based games. It’s a feel-good show, and I believe viewers will enjoy every minute.”

The details

This is how it works:

Singers

Singers will earn points for their performance in various games.

The more songs you have in your repertoire, the better. Three singers will participate in each episode, and there is cash to be won each week.

The further you progress to the final round, the more money is at stake.

Three viewers will be chosen each week to participate as air partners. Air partners win money based on how well their singing partners perform in the show.

You'll be accompanied by an orchestra led by Noot vir Noot muso Jaconell Mouton.

And viewers

In each episode, there are five randomly selected viewers.

Every show begins with the evening’s singers, each singing one verse of a song. The first three out of the five viewers who can correctly identify the songs are chosen as that episode's air partners.

As an air partner, you are paired with the singer whose song title you correctly identified. You will then win a sum of money depending on whether your singer achieves first, second, or third place. So, each of the evening’s three air partners is guaranteed to win something.

Information on how viewers can apply hasn't been confirmed yet but this is what to do if you'd like to be a singer on the show...

How to audition

You can send a video recording of yourself singing your favourite song to this WhatsApp line: 072 511 2986.

Include your name, age and where you live.

Language requirements: Singers sing in both Afrikaans and English, so you can audition in either Afrikaans or English.

You need to be able to speak Afrikaans as the show is in Afrikaans.

Closing date: 22 December 2023
