Zetske van Pletzen is a South African actress best known for her role as Marcel van Niekerk in the SABC2 soap opera 7de Laan, making her first appearance in August 2011 and her last in April 2013.

Zetske was born, raised and schooled in Pretoria. Her love for the performing arts began when she started dancing at the age of four. In primary school she excelled in netball and athletics. She also achieved national colours for athletics and cross-country.

She has been portraying characters in radio infomercials from an early age and is still working as a voice artist. She matriculated in 2005 from Pro Arte Alphen Park with Drama as her study field. She was awarded best movement and drama student in 2004 and 2005.

During her matric year she appeared in 14 episodes of the kykNET series Hart van Staal, opposite Robbie Wessels. She also played one of the "Pretoria-accent" (Issiit?) schoolgirls in a Polka.com commercial. In the same year, she had to turn down two leading roles to focus on her schoolwork, ballet and modern dancing.

She received her diplomas in Cechetti Ballet (Intermediate) and RAD (Elementary). After matriculating she played the romantic lead in another kykNET series, Begeertes, and also worked at a production company, doing everything from company manager to stagehand, artists' dresser, general assistant, dancer, as well as MC.

In 2007 she worked as an English teacher and an au pair in France and returned home fluent in French. In 2008 she played the role of Izel Landman in Deon Opperman's drama series Kruispad. She would later team up with him to star in his series Bloedbroers.

Zetske did an action short film for M-Net, On Target, playing the leading role of an assassin and had weapon training on set with an armourer. She has been a guest artist on the soapie Binnelanders, playing the role of Kara, a drug addict.

Zetske was part of the stage production Houtkruis - Die Musical, performed at the State Theatre in 2009. She was also part of Dood van 'n Verkoopsman - (the Afrikaans translation of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman) which was performed at KKNK and Aardklop in 2010.

She also played Maria-Elena Holly in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story at the State Theatre in 2010.

From 2011-2013 she starred in 7de Laan, playing the sassy book editor Marcel. In 2012 she had a small role in the feature film Semi-Soet.

In 2015 she starred in the Deon Opperman period drama series Bloedbroers (Blood Brothers) and appeared in the comedy-drama film Mooirivier.

Zetske is the daughter of actors Pierre van Pletzen and Elzette Maarschalk, the stepdaughter of actress Sandra Vaughn and has been married to actor Altus Theart since 6 January, 2012.
