About

StarTimes One (formerly known as Star One) is a digital channel on the StarSat satellite platform which is a family entertainment channel with a mix of international and some local programming. It replaced the defunct Top One channel when TopTV changed its name to StarSat on 1 November, 2013, and officially began broadcasting on 1 December, 2013.

The name changed again in 2014 when all of the "Star" channels on StarSat, eg. Movies 1, One, Gospel and Africa 2, were changed to StarTimes Movies 1, StarTimes One, StarTimes Gospel, StarTimes Africa 2, etc. This was because there was a conflict with the Star channel brands from the Indian Star broadcaster.
