A spin-off from National Geographic Channel more focused on the 'wild' aspect of wildlife and nature,  The channel is a joint venture between National Geographic and Fox Cable Networks.

Originally a premium channel on DStv, it was added to the Compact bouquet on 13 November, 2012. The channel was added to the StarSat satellite platform on 17 October, 2016.

Nat Geo Wild offers intimate encounters with nature's ferocious fighters and gentle creatures of land, sea and air that draw upon the cutting-edge work of the many explorers, filmmakers and scientists of the National Geographic Society.
