CCV-TV is a defunct South African terrestrial television channel owned by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) which was created in 1992 through the merging of the former TV2, TV3, and TV4 channels into one multicultural channel, CCV-TV (Contemporary Community Values Television), with only TV1 retaining its autonomy.
It was the first multi-lingual station in South Africa without any particular predetermined market based on race, language group or cultural disparities.
On 4 February 1996, the SABC relaunched the TV1, CCV-TV and NNTV channels as SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3, with CCV effectively becoming SABC1.
CCV-TV's audience were in the LSM groups 4-6 and 75% were Black African. Programming included iconic shows such as Generations and Soul City, which continue to run today; and the last season of the sitcom 'Sgudi 'Snaysi.
