Kefentse "Tahirih" Zambane is a South African actress and singer best known for her leading role as Lerato Moabi on the e.tv soapie Backstage, which she played for two years, from 2005-2007.
She was born in Tshwane (formerly known as Pretoria) and was raised under the influences of the great divas of the 80s, whose talents and souls inspired her to make music her life.
At Max Stibbe Waldorf School, one of her high school teachers, Magne Skrede, encouraged her to develop her talent and invited her to Norway in 1997 as part of an international liaison tour between South Africa and Norway.
She matriculated in November 1998 and in December 1998 was invited back to Norway to star in the opera Amahl and the Night Visitors.
In 2001, she appeared as a member of the group Vetsak as an opening act for Just Jinger in Menlyn Park.
Tahiri completed her National Diploma in Musical Theatre (cum laude) in 2002 at the University of Tshwane, majoring in singing, acting and dancing.
During 2002, she also featured in Sleeping Beauty at the Civic Centre and at the end of 2002 appeared as one of the main attractions at the FNB Awards at KFP (directed by Kevin Furthers) as well as one of the principal singers in the Christmas Carols show at Caesar’s Palace (directed by Michael Gladwin).
She departed for Turkey in December 2002. While in Turkey, she featured as the lead singer in musical and cabaret shows, such as Aloha, Hot Hot Hot, Musicals, and Celebrations.
She was also invited back to Norway to perform as soloist with the Bergen Choir on their tour of Norway and Sweden. She returned to South Africa at the end of 2003.
In 2004, she was a principal singer in the show Diva! at the Liberty Theatre on the Square in Sandton (directed by Genna Louis) for which she was nominated for two Naledi awards.
Coenie de Villiers cast her as one of his principal singers in his 2005 KKNK show, Coenie de Villiers en die Oggendsterre, which ran in Oudtshoorn, George (produced and directed by Deon Opperman).
She has appeared in the television shows Backstage, Erfsondes and Le Shebeen, among others.
In December 2007 she began playing the role of choir member Zama in the SABC1 drama series Usindiso.
