Pam Ferris, OBE is a British actress best known for her starring role as Ma Larkin in The Darling Buds of May, and for playing Miss Trunchball in Matilda and Laura Thyme in Rosemary and Thyme.

She also stars as Sister Evangelina in the period drama television series Call the Midwife.

Ferris is undoubtedly one of British television's most loved actresses, perhaps best known for her roles in The Darling Buds of May (1991-93), Where the Heart Is (1997-2000) and Rosemary & Thyme (2003-2006).

Pam's many other television credits include Luther, Gavin and Stacey, Our Mutual Friend, Linda Green, Midsomer Murders, Clocking Off, Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit and Grandma's House and Bessie and the Bell in Carlton's series of short films called First Sign of Madness, for which she won a Best Actress Award at the New York Festival in 2001.

Pam's roles in other period dramas include the BBC adaptation of Jane Eyre, Middlemarch and Little Dorrit. She is also known as the terrifying Miss Trunchbull in Danny DeVito's Matilda.

In addition, Pam has starred in several films including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Matilda and Children of Men.

In addition to her film and television work, Ferris has also starred in numerous theatre productions, including the successful Royal Court Theatre production of Notes on Falling Leaves for which she received an Evening Standard Theatre Award Nomination for Best Actress and The Entertainer at the Old Vic, starring opposite Robert Lindsay, for which she received an Olivier Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actress, and won the 2008 Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Actress.

She has also starred in Malice in Wonderland directed by Simon Fellows, Ed McHenry's Jackboots on Whitehall, and James McTeigue's The Raven, opposite John Cusack.
