Season 2 premiered on SABC1 on Monday 12 August 2013, at 18h30. After three episodes it moved to Mondays at 18h00, from 2 September. It moved again to Thursdays at 18h00 from Episode 10, which aired on 10 October, 2013. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 26 episodes in the second season.

Synopsis

Vaya Mzansi promises the thrill of motorbikes on the open road intertwined with the spirit of inquiry and adventure. Vaya Mzansi follows two travelling companions - DJ Cleo and Angie Khumalo in Season 1 and Eric "Versatyle" Prinsloo and Nokuthula Radebe from midway through Season 1 - in South Africa's first motorcycle travel show.

From the cities of Jozi to the rural districts of the Eastern Cape, the two travelers will be searching for the soul of the nation.

The intrepid motorcyclists unearth interesting stories – political, historical, criminal, ideological – all seen through the eyes of local people.

Vaya Mzansi takes viewers on a soulful and exhilarating journey through our homeland, highlighting differences in culture, language, religion, politics, philosophies and cuisine.

Stylistically the filming uses mini-cams mounted on the bikes and helmets, giving viewers the real feel of the exhilarating freedom of motorcycle travel.

The series was previously known as Mzansi Explorers and is based on an original concept by Craig Alloop. The executive producers are Matthew Rosmarin, Alisa Tulloch and Moyikwa Sisulu. The series was directed by NZB Majola.
