There was a bit of panic when news surfaced at the end of 2013 that Mzansi's "number 1" drama, Isibaya, is coming to an end. Well, thanks to the
TVSA scoop, it's been confirmed that Isibaya, as we know it, is coming to an end next week Thursday... but alas, the revamped, 5 day soapie version of iSibaya premiers on the 17th March, same time...
DSTV sent out word today, as the "official" confirmation:
Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Isibaya has proved such a massive hit that audiences have already been preparing to haul out the tissues when the story of the Zungus and the Ndlovus finally drew to a close. But, in a first for South African television, Mzansi Magic has decided not to leave Isibaya fans in the lurch and has now commissioned the series into a full-on soapie! From March 17th 2014, Isibaya will broadcast five days a week on Mzansi Magic, in the primetime slot of 20h30. The run of 208 telenovela episodes will end on March 13th, nearly a year after the television show entered the lives of South Africans all over the country. Now, I have a couple of questions and maybe you guys can assist:
- Why is Vusi Kunene, in the picture (pun intended), along-side Siyabonga Twala aka Mpiyakhe Zungu? Apparently, the storyline is still based on the Zungus vs the Ndlovus; so is Vusi Kunene replacing Bheki Mkwane aka Samson Ndlovu?
- Before the drama began, all the ads featured this guy, but I don't recall ever seeing him on iSibaya. Who is/was this character?
- Lastly, I just hope that since it's gonna be a weekly "soapie", that the storyline won't draaaaaaaaag, as with the drama. Eish, labantu *In Ndlovu's Voice*... I mean, for the whole year, the storyline has been about finding Mpiyakhe. Now the drama is almost over, but Mphiyakhe is still missing. Hawu!
What do you tune the soapie will bring for us?Just to be dramatic... I'd like the following to happen:
- The news to come out that Jabu, was never Mpiyakhe's son, it was in fact Mancwane's son, but she had to give him up for some odd cultural reason...
- Jackson Mokaba ends up falling in love with one of Mphiyakhe's wives. I say Siphokazi... lol
- Sbusiso's feelings for Thandeka change and he ends up having a relationship with Qondi.
... Just for kontrol. Lol
