ABOUT
Hallmark Channel began life as Hallmark Entertainment Network on DStv when the satellite platform was launched by MultiChoice on 6 October, 1995. It later changed its name to Hallmark Channel.
Hallmark Channel offered police procedurals such as NCIS, Numb3rs and Law & Order; drama series including Cane, the medical drama House and the psychological thriller Flashpoint; as well as British series Foyle's War and Midsomer Murders; and high-production-value made-for-TV movies.
NBC Universal added Hallmark to its channel portfolio through the acquisition of Sparrowhawk Media in 2007 and the channel consistently ranked as one of the top-10 pay-TV channels on the DStv platform.
Hallmark Channel was discontinued on 24 March, 2010 and rebranded as Universal Channel.
