Isidingo, Binnelanders and Legacy star Michelle Botes died on Saturday 21 December after a 29-month battle with blood cancer. According to Bruis magazine, she'd been living with her son and his wife in Observatory, Cape Town after her diagnosis in 2022, which is the last time we saw her on TV - in Legacy and Binnelanders. She was 63. >>

She's back on both BBC Lifestyle and S3 for Nigella's Amsterdam Christmas: on Tuesday 17 December at 19h00 and Monday 30 December at 18h00. Was filmed in 2023 though and she hasn't done TV since. Didn't judge on the 2024 season of My Kitchen Rules Australia after doing the previous two seasons.

WildEarth chairman Andre Crawford-Brunt apologises for his derogatory comments about MultiChoice in the media and on socialz earlier this year when WildEarth split from DStv. It comes with the announcement that the channel will be back on DStv 183 from 1 December 2024. The beef between them was because MultiChoice didn't pay WildEarth a fee to be on DStv - was an exposure deal. No word on whether they're paying now. >>

No wins for Die Brug or Takalani Sesame at the 2024 International Emmys. Not surprising considering the fact that award-winning Shaka iLembe didn't get a nomination even though it was entered. No clarity from these awards as to what they're looking for. Only two southern hemisphere shows won in a total of 14 categories, from Mexico and Argentina. Kid's film Tabby McTat, directed by Cape Town animation directors Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour, won the animation category, however it was a UK entry and not South African.
