Akhumzi Jezile (15 January, 1989 - 28 April, 2018) was a South African actor, television presenter and producer best known as a presenter on various YOTV shows on SABC1, from 2007-2012.
He was also known for his starring role as Tsietsi Zwane in the SABC1 comedy-drama series Khululeka Siyavota, a democracy education drama with comedy produced by Penguin Films for SABC Education in consultation with the IEC.
In 2013 he landed the starring role of Ngulube in the SABC1 drama series Tempy Pushas, set against the backdrop of the lavish fashion world and juxtaposed with the vibrant township culture. He won the 2014 SAFTA award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama for this role.
Akhumzi was also a radio presenter for Umhlobo Wenene for SABC, the face of the Maggie 2-Minute Noodles presenter earch and a brand ambassador for the Protex Give Me 5 Campaign.
He was also a producer on the biggest YOTV show, The Big Breakfast.
He is multilingual, speaking Xhosa, English, Zulu and Sotho.
In 2016 he replaced Zuluboy (Mxolisi Majozi) as the host of the SABC1 music variety show Fan Base, joining in Season 5.
Akhumzi was Series Producer of the SABC1 music show Live AMP and was the featured guest in an episode of the SABC1 talk show Zaziwa, appearing in Season 5, Episode 27 on Wednesday 24 January, 2018.
He died in the early hours of Saturday 28 April, 2018, in a car crash which also claimed the lives of Thobani Mseleni and Siyasanga Kobese.
