Season 3
Based on the international reality format Farmer Wants A Wife, the show aims to matchmake couples with the idea of everyone hooking up - preferably in pairs of two.
The key matchmaker of show was originally former 7de Laan star Elma Postma, who was also the host of the show for the first three seasons. She was replaced in Season 4 by Angelique Gerber.
The farmers selected for the show are chosen from hundreds of applicants and presented to the public in a special broadcast on kykNET earlier in the year.
Following the Monday night's introduction, single South Africans have two weeks to write a romantic loveletter to the farmer of their choice. Based on the latters they receive, each farmer chooses 10 potential partners who they'll get to know better through the show.
The cameras follow the farmers on their dates and capture the courting on film.
However, there is no competition element to Boer Soek 'n Vrou – no wedding or prize money is up for grabs. The series simply offers farmers the opportunity to meet other single people from which possible friendships and romances can develop.
Once the show is over there is a reunion episode in which viewers are able to find out which of the farmers found true love.
Boer Soek 'n Vrou is produced for kykNET by Lion's Head Productions with Fremantle Media. The executive producer for Lion's Head is Herman Binge. The theme music is by Schalk Joubert.
