Season 5

Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola returns for its fifth season promising even more punch with entertaining reports combined with sharp and satirical reports from South Africa and abroad.

Riaad Moosa returns with his biting Second Opinion on all matters newsworthy while Loyiso is once again joined by David Kibuuka, the reluctant foreign correspondent who generally hates his assignments, loathes the country he has been sent to and complains about being underpaid.

After encounters with the likes of Helen Zille, Gwede Mantashe and Mosioua Lekota, Chester Missing is still on his quest to grill more political figureheads.

In true LNN tradition, cameos from some of the country's most celebrated performers are the order of the day.

The show has a format based loosely on international spoof and parody news shows, which LNN has customised and personalised to cater to local audiences, drawing in viewers from all demographic spheres.

Loyiso Gola, the face of LNN, has been bringing humour to South Africans with his banter and wit for years. His award-winning performances have also graced international stages in London, Dubai and New York and have carved his reputation as an opinionated, observant and honest voice of comedy.

About the Show

True journalism relies on facts and verified information. Late Nite News (LNN) relies purely on speculation and, most times, absurd hearsay.

Late Nite News has a formal look about it and features comedians as "Field Reporters", including Riaad Moosa, David Kibuuka, Chester Missing and Jason Cope.

The show follows a professional structure and is set in a formal news studio, but the latest news is interspersed with non-stop tongue-in-cheek one-liners offering viewers a comedic take on current political and international stories.

Late Nite News anchor Loyiso Gola is known for his no-holds-barred comedy and throws into the Late Nite News mix political and social interviews with various guests.

Loyiso's approach is towards guests is confrontational and aggressive. He blows stories completely out of proportion and creates a comedy vibe.

Each episode is concluded with a "Morale Index", narrated by Loyiso. Using an animated graphic interface, this segment measures the country's milestones and failures in the week using a graph diagram.
