64th Golden Globe Awards
The who's who of America's TV and movie industry gathered at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on 15 January, 2007 for the 64th Golden Globe Awards.
The event was founded in 1943 by eight Los Angeles based journalists working for overseas publications, who came together to create the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The awards were initially handed out by the journalists themselves until 1958, when Rat Packers Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr. stormed the stage, with whiskeys and cigarettes in tow, and took over the show, to the delight of the audience.
They repeated their performance the next year (this time at the request of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) and since then, the stars have hosted the show.
Each year someone is honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille award which recognises outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment. The award was introduced in 1952 and filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille was the first person to receive it.
This year the award will be presented to Warren Beatty who's received 12 Golden Globe nominations during his career and won 5.

About the Globes
The first Golden Globe Awards were held in 1940, at the 20th Century Fox studios. It has since been held annually, at various locations throughout the next decade, notably the Beverly Hills Hotel, "? Club" and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
The event was founded by eight Los Angeles based journalists working for overseas publications, who came together to create the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Indicating the impact that animated films have had on the industry, in early 2006 the Hollywood Foreign Press announced that a Golden Globe would be awarded for the Best Animated Feature starting in 2006 at the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards. It has been awarded ever since.
