Season 8
Come Dine With Me South Africa returns, featuring extrovert and eccentric contestants from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The show, featuring "the good, the bad and the hungry" will continue to be narrated by the voiceover legend Dave Lamb.
The format follows four amateur chefs as they each host a three-course dinner party for the other contestants at their own home.
Competitors then rate the host's food and hosting skills at the end of each evening, with the highest-scoring chef winning R10,000 cash.
In the Season 8 premiere: In the North of Johannesburg four colourful and creative personalities compete to host the best dinner party.
They are master yogi Paiger, bachelor Brendan, creative cool-cat Mandisa, and home-exec Qudsiya.
It's night one and yogi Paige is the first to host.
She goes full force with her Afrikaans inspired menu, loaded up with big pieces of meat, loads of butter and a Driehoek Kaaskoek to finish it off.
Her not-made-to-order steaks set her back but a round of party tricks save the day with ventriloquism, contortion and sound effects on offer.
On night two Bougie Brendon kicks off in the style of a true actuary, calculated and clean.
With Harry Potter wand in hand, he whips up an impressive three-course meal fit for a Michelin star; for starters Handkerchief pasta on a Sweet Corn Veloute, for the main Roasted Lamb and a truffle infused Wild Mushroom Risotto, and for dessert his take on a deconstructed Banoffee Pie.
Not just a feast for the eyes and the belly, but one for the heart too, leading the conversation to Brendon's relationship status.
It's night three and Mandisa is ready to make art in her kitchen.
Her dress code "The best version of yourself" reveals synergy in the group when all arrive in matching pink accents.
Her opening act, an Indian inspired Dhal Makhani, receives mixed reviews from her two India-loving guests Paige and Qudsiya.
She tries to bring it back with a health bowl and a song but it's her Ample Crumble dessert with a side of feet that really steal the show.
The final host is married mom of two Qudsiya, she turns up the heat with spice at every stage of the night from a chilli infused welcome drink to a painfully hot game of truth or dare.
She serves an abundance of food, proving that in her home more is more.
For starters she served Fish Tikka and Mussels, for the main a South African Indian dish comprising of multiple smaller dishes that left her guests overwhelmed, and finally her favourite Pakistani dessert Rasmalai.
No doubt Paige was in heaven but was her feast from the East enough to tantalise the tastebuds of Mandisa and Brendan and grab the cash prize?
