Season 9

Come Dine With Me South Africa returns, featuring extrovert and eccentric contestants.

The show, featuring "the good, the bad and the hungry" will continue to be narrated by the voiceover legend Dave Lamb.

The format follows four amateur chefs as they each host a three-course dinner party for the other contestants at their own home.

Competitors then rate the host's food and hosting skills at the end of each evening, with the highest-scoring chef winning R10,000 cash.

In the Season 9 premiere: Week one unfolds in Durban where middle of the road royalty crossroads with Italian tragedies.

Meet our intriguing cast of characters: Mrs giggles Lianca, Princess Valentine, boet Brad and the OCD Sanele.

Each of them are determined, but some are more prepared for the task than others.

Cleaning enthusiast Sanele is first to host.

His menu is a mix and match of traditional staples, an Italian pasta, an Indian lamb curry and a South African peppermint crisp tart.

Sanele shares an excerpt from his unpublished book about his late mother, which shifts gears down a notch until Brad's humour lifts the spirit, ensuring an unforgettable start to this culinary journey.

On night two, resident physiotherapist Lianca unveils her "Indian'ish" theme.

Kicking off the evening with a pani puri starter, she follows this with a flavourful green curry main and a jiggly delight in the form of a Thai tea-infused panacotta.

Her Bollywood boom evening gets her guests up on their feet and grooving to the rhythmic beats of a traditional Indian drumming band.

Night three unfolds with all the regal splendour you can imagine as Lady Valentine takes centre stage, promising her guests an evening fit for royalty.

She handcrafts her own pasta for a sumptuous prawn and chorizo main course, followed by a traditional Eaton Mess dessert.

But the real spectacle begins when Sanele, in all his OCD glory, requests a spotlessly clean wine glass.

Conversation takes a delightfully bizarre turn when Sanele shares his eyebrow-raising tales about the "O Bamas" and his peculiar reasons for purchasing two seats on a flight.

The grand finale is hosted by the boisterous Brad, who turns the tables with a camping-themed extravaganza.

He serves his mom's favourite starter, a self-titled chicken main, and a dessert he named 'Someone call 911'.

Brad's childlike sense of humour shows its head again with a diabolical game of evil laughs before the R10,000-winner is announced.
