Crazy does not begin to describe Frank, the 11th housemate to be evicted out of the BBN House. You also can’t talk about him and not mention his competitiveness and the fact that he is such a perfectionist. From what I observed about him, he subscribes to the notion that says that “If you want something done right, then do it yourself”.
He is a very talented individual, every bone in his well built body is creative and he is artistic in every sense of the word.
This devoted Christian who preaches abstinence, took time off his hectic schedule to chat to me about his wedding plans and what he plans to do to join the HIV/AIDS fight in Africa.
Brown Shuga: Hey Frank, how are the wedding plans going? I hear the wedding’s in December?
Frank: Yes it’s in December, the plans are coming up well. BS: You must have been pretty sure she’d say yes for you to propose on air like that?
Frank: I was a bit nervous but I was certain she’d say yes.
BS: But man it wasn’t fair for you to put that pressure on her?
Frank: I didn’t put pressure, she wanted it! BS: I guess that means the rumour about you and Sandy getting it on was nonsense?
Frank: That’s nonsense, this is the first time that I’m hearing about it and there’s no such thing. BS: How’s the dancing going?
Frank: I’m busy organizing a dance festival for next month. So I have been busy arranging contracts etc. I’ve been very busy. I’ve also tried my hand in acting. I’ve done a bit of singing as well; remember I told you we’d do a song together?
BS: Yeah, when?
Frank: I’ll arrange to come down to SA when I’m ready. I’ve also been doing a bit of presenting; have done a couple of MC-ing jobs.
I’m very open for options right now. I’m trying to start an HIV campaign and that’s my main aim right now. BS: You and your fellow housemates are attending the “Notting Hill Carnival” in London this weekend, you must be thrilled??
Frank: Yeah, I’m looking forward to a whole lot of butt shaking & booty shaking, it’s gonna be exciting!!
BS: For those who don’t know, what exactly is the Carnival about?
Frank: It’s a lot of dancing, people shaking their asses all over the place but there should be a website with all the info. BS: With regards to the nominations in the house, how did you feel about being labelled Judas Iscariot by the viewers?
Frank: I made that straight. I was just playing the game with the nominations. Sometimes I just said the first name that came to my mind. I was playing the game and really a good example was Katung and Ebuka. They were very close in the house but Katung nominated Ebuka so we were just doing it for the money. BS: For what it’s worth, I think you were one of the few housemates that kept it real…I mean, farting so freely with millions of people watching?... it don’t get any more real than that huh?
Frank: (Laughs) That’s funny…no it doesn’t. BS: Did Big Brother ever thank you for saving him money on the Psychologist fees? I mean you were like the in-house shrink for the girls.
Frank: (Laughs) The advising I did in the house came from my experiences. I know some stuff and if they asked me for advice I would just give it freely and without hesitation. I don’t see myself as a professional or shrink but I’ve been around and I know some stuff so I gave advice to those who asked for it.
BS: What is it about you that makes everybody just want to pour it all out to you?
Frank: I’m a Christian and maybe it was because the people I give advice to would tell others that they had received good advice from me and those would in turn then come to try me out. BS: Does Franca or anyone of the housemates still come to you for advice on relationships?
Frank: Not really, everybody’s independent now, they’re all trying to do their thing so nobody comes for advice really… BS: You and Ify were very close before Katung came into the house and when he and Ify became close you seemed a bit jealous. Not because you were attracted to her but because he in a way came between the two of you. Is that what sparked the “competition” between you and Katung?
Frank: Yes I was a bit jealous because we were close and all of a sudden this handsome guy comes into the house and comes between us. I later found out what Katung was all about and I loved him. If you remember, I once told Ify that if there is anyone I wished she’d have a relationship with, had she not had a boyfriend, it would have been Katung.
BS: One of my most hilarious moments in the house was during the Film Task, when Big Brother made you a make up artist when you expected to be the director…You were obviously very pissed?
Frank: (Laughs) Yeah, he turned things around and made Ebuka the director. Ebuka didn’t know how to do the job and I couldn’t just stand around and let them do a lousy job. I didn’t take over as people suggested, I was assisting just to make sure we do a good job.
BS: How do you think this BB compared to the other Big Brother shows you’ve watched before?
Frank: Well, people who have watched the show say that BBN was better than BBA but I only watched a little bit of Big Brother Africa before this so I can’t really say for sure whether it was better or not. BS: What made you enter, besides the money?
Frank: I actually entered just a day before the closing date, I completed the application form online and then later I got a call and from there onwards it was about the money.
BS: Yeah it was a lot of money. Katung must be living it up?
Frank: Yes he’s doing his best. BS: Is there any area that you think they could improve on if bringing a second instalment BBN?
Frank: The only thing I would like the private sector to be more involved i.e. designers and the movie industry etc. I would have liked it more if they were more involved so as to tap in the opportunities made available by such a show. I mean it is a national programme that showcased different aspects of Nigeria. That’s all that I would have wanted to change.
BS: What music are you dancing to these days:
Frank: There’s a song..(he starts singing a song about rolling… BS: Whose song is that? I don’t know it..
Frank: I don’t remember the name of the song but it’s nice, I’m also listening to 2Face, you know 2 Face?
BS: Yes, he rocks!
Frank: I know, his songs are off the hook, I’m also mad about R Kelly, do you remember we used to dance to his songs in the house? I’m also into Rugged man and a lot of Gospel music. BS: What can we expect from you in the next couple of months?
Frank: A lot of stuff. Like I said, I’m busy with the dance festival now and from there I really want to help fight Aids in Nigeria and Africa. I just found that a friend of mine tested positive and that really hit home. I am very passionate about playing a part in helping to fight this pandemic, and that is my biggest plan.
BS: Wow that is so wonderful Frank; I certainly hope that things work out for the best. Thank you so much for all the crazy and entertaining moments you provided in the house. But before I let you go, is there any gossip you wanna share with us about the housemates?
Frank: (Laughs)No, I don’t have any gossip but Sandy and Helen are shooting a movie now and Joan has done a couple of movies. I don’t really know what Franca’s up to but I know she’s going to Australia soon.
BS: Thank you for that info Frank, we wish you well in all your plans.
