EPISODE TENNooo - how could they have been so cruel? Haha. Despite the frustrating cliffhanger and the fact that the Weaver devils have horrifically managed to pull themselves back from the dead, the episode still made me feel very uplifted afterwards.
The Jaws’y music that followed the Weavers all the way through had lots to do with it. Did you notice how the music changed to Evil whenever they appeared, espesh when they were looming up behind someone? It was almost as brilliant as that hot air balloon dude dumping them on the rocky, dusty, crap mountain instead of carefully planting them in a peaceful pasture the way they did everyone else.
As much as I loathe them (I think they’re certifiable?) they do deserve a smidgen of credit for stubbornly refusing to take the hint that they need to stuff off. I’ll never again mention credit to them and only say it because I trust that their finishing almost first is a temporary ploy on behalf of the show to make them think they have a chance of winning. The trauma it would be if they did would just be too universally impossible to handle and judging from the music I reckon Phil knows this.
That said, and I shudder to say it, but I reckon they’re defs gonna end up being in the final three - I just don’t see the Godlewski's racing another entire episode and not making a fatal error.
The were the only team to make mega mistakes by missing turn-offs and choosing the wrong task during the Detour, all as a result of the huge issues brimming between them. If you ask me it has something to do with Chris either being the youngest or the favourite with their parents and her incessant talking’s the excuse the others use to bully her.
It’s hectic how the loathing and nastiness between them has heated up under the surface over time and how forcefully it’s erupted like that hot, fierce giser they had to wait for with the fireman. Calling a geyser a giser is ridiculous and I can’t believe they all said it as if it was right. More hysterical though was one of the Linz’s having no clue what a rendesvouz is. Clearly he hasn’t watched enough Tarantino movies ‘cos they’re all over the place in them.
I can’t quite remember where the rendesvouz was but it was mentioned somewhere in the middle of the episode that started with everyone taking a balloon ride after having a sleep in their caravans. Once their balloon rides were over they all travelled to an old railway station where they faced their Detour that involved choosing between loading coal or building a railway track. I would have chosen the coal without hesitation and the Godlewski’s should have too - clearly it’s not a job for chick.
How was Wally the Wimp for being impressive and saving his girls for once? For the first time ever I actually felt some real emotion for them and had a good chuckle when the twins were ragging him and flicking him in the back of the car afterwards.
I was also interested in what the Weavers said about them being good with directions. This isn’t something I’ve picked up before and there must be some truth to it - if you think about it they’ve never gotten lost.
Leaving the Godlewski’s struggling behind at the Detour everyone else headed off to the impressively strange salt pans of Utah where they had to find their next clue at a pole with big balls dangling from it that everyone made jokes about.
The clue sent them to a garden city where everyone caught up with each other and slept the night after having supper round a campfire which the Weavers obviously weren’t invited to. The next morning they each headed off to a cowboy range at different times where two members of each team had to ride horses and herd cows with super long eyelashes.
This is when the final mad dash set in as the Bransens finished the horsing neck and neck with the Weavers and sprinted them to what they thought was the pitstop, tripping and falling over each other to be the first on the mat.
I think this why I was both wishing it was a pitstop while also being pleased it wasn’t ‘cos there was something about the way they pushed and shoved to the finish that made me feel neither of them deserved coming first. Also their extended suffering is very enjoyable to see and it’s gonna be the same with the rest of them when they realize it’s not the end.
All of them deserve to work as hard as they possibly can to be in the final three because over the course of time it’s become clear that none of them are perfect. The Godboobies have all their screaming and sibling rivalry going on and as much as I like the Linz’s always, their comment about the Weaver wrinkles was an uncharacteristically low blow I thought.
All in all each of the teams have something they need to pay for and I reckon this extended leg is a perfect punishment. By the time it gets to the final three whoever the three turn out to be will have gone through the firey brimstone they deserve to be in line to win the bucks.
