Generations Fans Believe The Show Is Real - TVSA To Blame

Now we've gone and done it...

In a conversation with a publicity person from Generations yesterday it was revealed to TVSA that many of the show's viewers believe that all of the action in it is real.

Even the action that isn't. None of it is, but some of the plotlines are less real than others. And TVSA is partly to blame for that.

If that's as confusing to you as it is to us, allow us to explain.

We were told by Generations that they had been made aware of an email that was circulating in offices countrywide, which contained a story about one of the characters - Angela - falling pregnant.

We were told that the mother of Dineo Nchabaleng (the actress who played Angela until quitting the show recently to concentrate on her school studies) was upset by the email, as her daughter is only 14 years old.

What does that have to do with TVSA? Well ... the article about Angela getting pregnant was written by TVSA Gossip Queen Brown Shuga in her Shuga's G-Spot column, in an article entitled Karabo Moroka dies At last!! (I WISH).

Shuga wrote the article in August, when the show was lagging with a boring plotline and nothing new happening. The article was all about changes Shuga would make to the plot were she one of the scriptwriters.

Judging by the reactions to her article she clearly should be a writer for Generations. She's made it far more interesting than the real deal.

She made it abundantly clear in her article that she was joking, but obviously some bright spark took her at face value and forwarded her article in an email. That first email was sent on to another Generations fan and quickly gathered momentum, snowballing out of control.

On another Generations article by Shuga, entitled Generations on Rape Victim Behaviour lessons, TVSA reader Vuyo confirmed that she had received the exact same email - from a totally unrelated source.

"Now before I forget, maybe you've seen this but there is an email going around with subject: 'Umgosi for Generations lovers' (or something like this)," wrote Vuyo.

"I received it a few days ago and on closer inspection I realised that it's your exact G-spot blog you wrote weeks ago. The one where you spiced things up about the characters (e.g. Karabo dying of Aids etc.).

"I laughed out loud when I received it, I could not believe some idiot decided to take it from TVSA and circulate it as if its for real."

We explained to the Generations representative that we have absolutely no control over A. what people believe and B. which of our articles get emailed around the country.

They agreed we couldn't be held responsible but said it had all caused quite a stir.

They went on to tell us that large numbers of Generations fans believe that everything that happens in the show is real.

You can imagine someone who believes it is all real would be more than shocked to read that a 14-year old girl is pregnant and that one of the lead characters has died of AIDS.

Apparently a number of Generations actors have to dress up in disguise to go shopping, for fear they will be attacked by fans of the show who don't agree with their on-screen shenanigans.

Is that some kind of crazy or what?

According to our source at Generations the producers of the show are perfectly happy to maintain the illusion that it is all real - they seem to think it's good for the show. In essence - if viewers want to believe it's all real then so be it.

So if you're a Generations fan - or just a rubbernecker wanting to see some real action - you know what to do. Click here to go straight to the heart of the G-Spot.
