Last week Flower had decided that the Lazuli were too close to her doorstep and attacked the Lazuli's burrow with Pancake and her pups inside. Pancake took the pups deeper into the burrow's maze. While Flower and her gang were trying to get inside, the rest of the Lazuli group returned. This led to a hasty retreat from Flower as she only had a few members helping with the onslaught. The majority of the group had run Youssarian off thinking he was a Lazuli kat.
Returning to her burrow she realised that the Lazuli could counter attack and decided to move her five pups to another burrow. The Whiskers group still only had about a dozen members as the others had not returned with her.
While this samll group were waiting for the rest of the gang, Youssarian saunters home and plops himself down as if nothing has happened. Of course he kept his distance from Flower and the rest of the gang. I swear I'm going to put my hand around Youssarian's scrawny neck. He is irresponsible and never puts in his share of duties. How Flower leaves him to babysit the pups I just don't know. Everytime he's left to babysit he's done something stupid. In the last season he decided to move the pups to another burrow. This resulted in one of the pups dying because when he saw Flower he dropped the little thing and ran off. Noone found the little pup. This time he was left babysitting, he left the pups looking for a lady kat in the Lazuli group.
Although she waited for the return of the others, time was moving on and she had to move the pups before dark set in. At first the adults carried the pups for a distance but then the pups had to walk the rest of the way to the new burrow.
With the rains having fallen in the Kalahari, it meant that there was more bush, shrub and grass to move through. This time there was a sea of yellow flowers that had grown from the rains. The adult kat is able to peer of the top of the flowers, but when you're only six cms tall, you're not going to see a thing LOL. These little pups couldn't be seen by the cameras. They made it safely to the new burrow but now the group is smaller without the rest of the gang.
The Kalahari residents welcome the rains as it there is more to eat on the menu for everyone.
This episode saw the new pups venturing out on their first forage. The pups usually hang around an adult waiting for their food to be dug out and handed to them. Being as small as they are, this means the food they're given is almost as big as they are LOL. Picture this six cm pup being given a full grown scorpion. Their little mouths are always trying to get into this meal. And the food is still alive so it is squirming in their little mouth.
While the gang were foraging, a huge group of kats appeared. But there wasn't a war dance by either one of the kats. It seemed as if they all knew each other. It was the rest of the Whiskers group. It took a week before the group were united again. But when they met up, great excitement was had by all. Play fighting and scent marking each other.
Flower is pregnant again, which means everyone must keep out of her way. This lady kat is a walking hormone when she's pregnant. But if that's not enough, Mozart is also pregnant and we all know that Flower is the only one allowed to be pregnant. So we will have to wait and see if Flower evicts Mozart again.
I bet Mozart is pregnant with Carlos' pups. He's another roving male much like Youssarian.
On Monday's two episodes of Meerkat Manor are shown. Just and the second episode starts the rain starts bucketing down here in Durban. This led to my DSTV going on the blink. I will have to wait till tonight to watch the second episode and blog it. *Sigh* my life as a belly dancer. LOL
