NO PICTURES TODAY GUYS, THIS IS SERIOUS.....“Kwaito Star Kabelo left orphans and abused children screaming in disappointment at a planned concernt last weekend.
Now the organizers of the birthday party of the SABC 2’s children programme want their money back” The headline was worse,
“KABELO LEAVES KIDS HANGING”.
Yho terrible neh? This is the article that was in the Sunday Times Metro and I can’t help but comment, even though it might not mean anything to some.
SABC 2 threw an awesome children’s party at the JHB Zoo on 03 November to celebrate Tube’s 10th Birthday and it was really a fun day for all the little ones. The zoo was the perfect place to have such a party and there was a lot for the kids to do.
I didn’t stand around to watch what was going on at the stage because my boy couldn’t stand in one spot long enough, so I’m kinda surprised to read that instead of swimming, playing on the numerous jumping castles or seeing all those cute animals they only see in school books, the kids were screaming because Kabelo didn’t sing???
Was it the kids or their parents?
Anyway, I had already left when this happened so I can’t say for sure.
Ok, maybe I should clarify what my beef is. According to the report, the sound played up when Kabelo was supposed to start his set. The performance was halted so that technicians could sort the problem out, they did that and called him back to the stage but the same ish happened again so Bouga decided to leave.
Ok the kids were disappointed because they don’t understand these things but I have a problem with the nasty way in which the whole thing was twisted in the article.
According to me, Kabelo’s reaction was justified. He is one of Mzansi’s best artists and we want him to settle for mediocrity?
Would we be saying the same thing if it was Jay-Z on that stage? No! We’d be blaming the sound company and saying how incompetent they are and how they cost us a great performance wara wara wara.
Oh! And what does Kabelo’s religion have to do with him wanting to give the best performance?
To even say that he had earlier told them he cannot live without “prayer” and his “relationship with God”, was plain cold man.
In other words they were trying to tell us that Kabelo is a hypocrite and does not practice what he preaches but if they really want us to quote Christianity and the bible in his defence, we will tell them that Bouga is a proud reborn Christian and his actions on that day DO NOT prove otherwise.
• The bible taught Kabelo not to settle for anything less than the best.
• The bible taught him that he is
FAVOURED
• The bible taught him
CONFIDENCE • The bible taught him to love himself and thy neighbour
If he didn’t love himself and his “
star-struck young fans”, he would have gave them that sub-standard performance, pocketed the so called “
discounted fee” of R15 000 and went home.
And there really was no need to highlight
discounted fee because for an artist at Kabelo’s level, it damn well is a discounted fee.
If he had stayed there and performed, whose name would be in the papers for giving a whack performance? The sound guys? Hell No!
People have this idea that just because someone is a born-again Christian, he should let people walk all over him and that is just crap. (Sorry for using crap and Christian in one sentence.) That is not what Christianity teaches people.
Please let’s stop using religion to bash and trash people. It’s a good thing for artists to commit to their God and try live clean lives, let’s not use that to find something negative to say about them.
I accept that my view may not be 100% correct but I believe without any doubt that I’m 100% correct when I say that Kabelo, like any Mzansi artist has a right to determine what standards he will or will not accept. Especially when it has to do with him giving us, the same people who complain about the mzansi standard of music, a GREAT performance. Last week it was Zola with the secret baby, this week it’s Kabelo, who’s next SA Print Media?
SABC 2, my anger is not directed at you but at whoever twisted the story and attacked Kabelo’s religion instead of addressing the real problem, THE SOUND!!!!
Now if you guys want your money back from Bouga then go ahead but remember that at least he stood on the stage and said
“Ke le Pantsula for Life” and we all know that’s ALL he says in his songs so that’s R14 000 off the price. You wanna sue him for R1 000? Sue the damn sound man!
Imagine if Bouga had taken out his gun and started uku
“Dubula Dubula Dubula”? Lapho khona I would also be saying he’s a hypocrite!
Now
Bouga you just go on and do your thing boy maar nawe yekela inkani, we know you are a “kwaito star, not a hustler”!
