Episode 302The Glass BallerinaI’m not entirely sure what to make of the latest episode of Lost. I’m confused, and while that is nothing new with regards to this show, this time, even sleeping on it hasn’t helped.
At least this week, we got less Jack-time, which is always very welcome. We finally get to see what’s going on with Sayid, Sun and Jin – who are sailing off the coast and still waiting for Jack and party to appear.
Super Sayid and his 2 trusty sidekicksI’m a bit pissed at the under use of Sayid in this episode, and I am pretty shocked that he didn’t take into account the faults of his plan. Sayid has become something of the superhero of the island to me - Super Sayid. He’s always there with a word of logic and a bit of torture when you need it. Yet, this is one of the reasons I love this show so much. It’s never afraid to take risks re the characters. They are all so flawed, and so unpredictable.
Sweet Sun – not quite as innocent as we thought she was! Although, I’ve never been totally convinced of her fidelity, and I’ve always suspected that she and Jae-Lee had an affair. But I was still a bit taken aback that she actually
dared cheat on Jin. I doubt he knows, because quite frankly, I think he’ll kill her if he found out.
Me and Mrs JonesI find this relationship of theirs (Sun’s and Jin’s) a bit strange. On the one hand their obsessive love for each other is a bit disquieting, but on the other hand, there are moments that are really sweet and tender between them. I don’t doubt that Sun loves Jin, but I think part of her obsessive love for him stems from the burden of guilt she is still carrying.
I’m afraid for this couple. I have the most terrible feeling that something is going to happen to one of them. I doubt it would be Sun, because to kill off a pregnant woman might not sit well with the general public. Which leaves Jin. While Jin is not one of my faves, I still like him and wouldn’t want to see him killed off. But I do fear something is going to happen.
Meanwhile, Sawyer and Kate back in Otherville, are forced to do manual labour. My favourite part in this episode involved Sawyer … again. I just loved his delayed “outrage” when one of the Others (Danny) suggested that Kate could take off her dress if she wanted to. Hee hee. Sawyer gets more enduring with each passing episode.
Sawyer. Sigh. No explaination neededTwo things ought to be mentioned here. The first is Alex approaching Kate to ask if she had seen Karl. So last week’s mystery guest has been declared an Other… maybe. The other thing is the kiss between Sawyer and Kate.
I don’t know to react to that kiss. I have Kate-hate and Sawyer-love. Combining the two emotions are a bit difficult, and despite my Kate-hate, I had to stop myself smiling. Damn, here I go again… smiling. Oh ok, it was cute. (Insert here much eye-rolling). I love the way he kissed her. I'm quite sure that most women may have been swooning at that point.
Actually, there are three things that need to mentioned with regards to Kate and Sawyer, and that is the fact that their every move is being watched by the Others, specifically Ben. While it doesn’t shock me, it does!! I’m hoping that Sawyer and Kate realize that they are being watched before it’s too late.
Jackass, meanwhile, is sulking in his little room. Why, he doesn’t even shake Ben’s hand when Ben introduces him self officially. Benjamin Linus (Fake Henry) claims to have been on the island all his life. For someone living on the island all his life, Ben has a snazzy dress sense. Now, I know I harped on about this last week, but what kind of a name is Benjamin Linus?? It sounds like character straight out of Charlie Brown.
Ben offers Jackass a chance to leave the island if he cooperates with him. Hmmm. Curiouser and curiouser.
I’m at a loss as to what the Others intend doing with these 3. They clearly didn’t want Sayid, Sun or Jin, or that trio would already have been in their clutches. Why have the only captured Sawyer, Kate and Jackass? And if Ben has been on the island all his life, why didn’t he and his Others do anything about the Dharma initiative when they first moved there??
Yet more questions. Are we ever going to get answers!
What we learnt this week.
• Sawyer is adorable.
• There is no love lost between Ben and Juliet
• Ben has been on the island all his life … apparently
• The losties have been on the island for 69 days
• The Others have outside contact with the world.
• Kate needs a brush. I can’t imagine the tangled state of her hair.
• Sawyer needs a tic-tac. Fish-biscuit breath is so not romantic.
• The baby that Sun is carrying most likely is Jae-Lee’s.
• Alex could be trying to aid the Losties.
• Super Sayid is just a figment of my imagination
