career paths (in and out)

High school the most exciting time for most people lives. Matric= stressful, exciting, & decision making time. University= new beginnings, life changing moments, growing up, responsibilities, Maturity.

University of Cape Town, one of the prominent universities in SA, along with Wits uni, Rau, maybe Medunsa, & many others. But being in university, you quickly realize that not all courses being supplied are suitable to give you the MONEY, CARS & EVERYTHINGS ELSE YOU WANT, or maybe that’s the way it looks, or the impression others impress on you. So what is a student to do?

WHAT ARE THE COURSES GUARANTEED TO GIVE ALL THAT & MORE? I did a bit of background for you, what used to be in, what is in, what is believed to bring in the “ching ching”, and what is believed to not.

Money the sole purpose we do a lot of things, although most wouldn’t agree, but this is the reason we go to school, we find jobs and we open businesses, sometimes the reason why we date or even tolerate some people around us. We all want “da good life”. Beautiful cars, nice houses and many other material things (clothes, shoes, hair). All the ladies know what im talking about and maybe the new age metro sexual man.

Some of us were told to get these things you need to go to school, study and study some more but with the rate of successful people who didn’t go to school or dropped out of college it really makes you wonder (Donald Trump). Anyway since you are already there don’t give up now continue, but are you sure the path you have taken will be the one to bring you the “moola”.

In the past professions such as, Doctor, Lawyer, Accountant, Engineer. Sorry I cannot go as far back as teachers & nurses’ era (no hating to them). Now we think: is it really worth it to study for all those years? Now believe me it’s all about the title “im a doctor” nothing more. I have come to realize that the life is not “lavida loca”

Now people want to be actors, musicians (entertainment business, is on the buzz). But what certainty is there that all of us will end up like our used to be very own Charlize Theron (now with a very profound American accent).

So I pose a question, which is the career path guaranteed to bring all that we are dreaming of and more. Lately BEE, has placed people on a high pedestal, young black & female is increasing, but is that all that is required of us to be young black & female, but with nothing in our brains. Women in construction are promised big things due to the 2010 world cup, & there after what. So what is your view on this, should we just base it on passion, love, ability, hard work or what?

Yours truly
Tumalicious
