Africa is a beautiful continent and i do believe that i has beautiful creatures that we can be proud of without any doubt....Every year a team of beauty contest judges spend months and months trying to get a young beautiful African woman that will be named or crowned Face of Africa competition winner...Thereafter semi-finalists will be selected who will go on to participate in a special second selection round. At this stage the TOP 10 finalists will be decided. These finalists will then participate in the Face of Africa Final at Sun City in South Africa....The Final are screened on M-Net and AfricaMagic to over 40 countries in Africa..... The winner of the competition  walk away with an international modeling career, courtesy of Elite Model Management and other prizes.... More importantly the winner will walk away with that title as Face of Africa....
The winners of the past include: Nigerian Oluchi Onweagba(the first winner),Benvinda Mudenge from Namibia (1999); Nombulelo Mazibuko from South Africa (2000) and Ramatoulaye Diallo from Senegal (2001). Do you think this ladies are really what a Face of Africa must look like? Phela someone somewhere thinks that all our African woman are like them....if you look at all the winners all of then are dark and they don't even have ATM's(curves)or in full is African Trade Marks, as we call them like that in Ekasie.... Do they really,i mean really represent our African beauty? What do you think about this competition...
Bathong i never miss any beauty peagent

Modelling had never been about beauty, its about trends so on and so on.

Unless you follow the fashion industry well, you will never understand.

But I do agree with you , with regards to this african beauty statement. But its te white mans perception of us, Ludacris cleared all the confusion in the African American community!

i neva quite understood nor agreed with their idea of "african beauty". beauty is beauty and that's how they shud judge it but bona they went and came up with their own definition of "africal beauty". at first i thot it was a beauty competition meant specifically for africans (ie women born in africa)...but they went and came up with these "feautures" u shud have to qualify. i found the whole thing ridiculous!

This is the first time I'm coming across this article.I'm quite surprised at the poor response it received. I have to agree with KELE. There is no such thing as African beauty or Western beauty. Mawu'muhle umuhle finish and Klaar.

We don't see eye to eye, so it is normal for us to have different definitions of what beauty is. Personally I think Indian Woman are gorgeous especially Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra. I think most of you will know who Aishwarya is. If you don't know Priyanka Just google her.

Some people think that Tyra Banks is pretty and I don't agree with them. As far as I'm concerned she's too made up and synthetic. Fake eyes, fake coloured hair and a nose job she never admits to.

Just because a group of people do not find you attractive, doesn't necessarily mean that you are ugly. It's true when they day beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That phrase sums up everything I have said. I dtrongly believe in it.
