Dezi and Douw (DOZI) getting it on

It all started when Madel ran into an old university pal of JH at the bookshop, she invited him over to supper as Madel always does and before you could say snoek braai, JH was introducing Douw to his lovely wife Dezi and instantly there was something between the two, one could see it in their eyes.

Before long JH had once again become close to his best buddy, when he found out that Douw and his wife had divorced and that Douw was between jobs, he took it upon himself to offer Douw a job at the new T&T gym as a fitness instructor.

Douw took the job, started dropping by the Terreblanche house quite often and there were quite a few occasions where he and Dezi were alone, one could sense that Dezi was feeling uneasy about this guy, what was she afraid of? Her hormones, that’s what!


She couldn’t understand what Douw was doing to her insides, he bought her perfume because she smelled so good, he invaded her personal space and he was just pushy and forward, not a redeeming quality in a man at all, not sure what Dezi sees in him because he’s nothing to look at really. Now had it been her long lost love Theuns or even scar-faced Liam, one could understand but this obnoxious stranger? I don’t get it and neither does a whole lot of viewers if the reaction of our forum members are anything to go by.

Before long, Dezi and Douw were meeting in the boutique and the more Dezi tried to deny and hide her feelings for Douw, the more he pushed her into admitting she felt the same way he did. He begged her to leave her husband, the selfish bastard, what the hell does he have to offer her anyway, he has no job, no house, nothing to offer the girl, what are they gonna live on, fresh air and love, well we all know in the real world, things don’t work out that way.

Look we all know that the actress playing Dezi Terreblanche, Elma Postma, has finished filming her last scenes in 7de laan, she’s leaving the show for greener pastures and we all would assume that this is the way she‘s leaving, running off with her husband’s friend, they really could not have cheapened her character more.

I mean come on, Dezi has grown up right in front of our eyes, she came on the scene playing the silly foolish waitress at Oppiekoffie, being best friends with Connie and Wilmien, she fell inlove with a guy on the other side of the tracks, much older than her and they got married. Yeah they might not have the best of chemistry, hell we haven’t ever seen them in bed together really, but he sure treats her well most of the time.

They’ve been through so many obstacles, his near affair with Erica, the secret of Petra being pregnant by Tiaan, her almost dumping him for Theuns, her blindness and the thing with Liam but still she has grown and developed into the independent businesswoman she is today.

How can the writers spoil her reputation like that, making her go out as the slut who cheated on her husband with his best friend. I can’t believe they sunk so low and I’m really hoping we are all wrong and that it’s much more dramatic and unpredictable than what we expect.

JH can’t understand why Dezi is acting so strange and time and again he confronts her but she snaps at him, insisting there’s nothing wrong. When Dezi confided in Felicity, Felicity was just as disgusted as we were, how can she do this to her husband, where is her mind, she better get that guy out of her life, etc.

As time went on, Dezi was acting irrationally, Madel thought she was pregnant and hinted at JH who confronted Felicity but she made it very clear to JH that he will not be hearing the pitter patter of little feet any time soon.

One night when Douw was supposed to meet JH at his house, JH was running late and naturally Dezi opened the door to him. The two got into the usual bickering about him being the right man for her, JH will never make her happy blaah blaah blaah and before long they were in each other’s arms, in a very intimate embrace just as Madel walked in.



Madel never did confront the two of them together but she did tackle Dezi the next day. With a constipated expression on her face, she demanded to know what Dezi was up to, how can she do this to JH, she must put an end to it now, on and on Madel went and Dezi had no choice but to say, bye bye Douw.


She tried very hard to tell the guy to back off, even San Mari got a sniff of what was going on and tried to confront Douw about his actions but he brushed her off. Eventually Dezi got through to Douw when JH received a resignation letter from him the next day, saying he has other job prospects. We thought that was the end of it but dammit his name remained in the credits so we knew the pest would be back.

Meanwhile, Douw continued to phone Dezi but she refused to answer any of his calls. With her hormones all over the place, Dezi got a little pregnancy scare when she was late with her period but that turned out to be a false alarm.

Madel and Felicity both thought that Douw was the father had it been positive but Dezi was taken aback that they thought so little of her, apparently things had not gone beyond a few kisses between her and Douw and even that looked totally disgusting, geez could they not have gotten a cuter actor to play Douw or at least not made him so arrogant and pushy, he’s overly confident that he will get JH’s wife, wonder if it’s a type of revenge against JH for getting another girl he wanted at varsity?

Eventually the bastard came back to Hillside and once again he was knocking on Dezi’s door. Ironically, JH confided in Douw about his wife’s strange behaviour and the pig had the audacity to suggest it might be work problems. Unable to handle the stress of her love life, Dezi decided to take the easy way out, she went to Witrivier to sort out some boutique problems in order to escape the pushy Douw.

Douw demanded to know from Felicity where Dezi was and why she didn’t let him know her whereabouts, so glad Felicity gave him a tongue lashing about his betrayal but he came right back at her, telling her that Dezi is not happy in her marriage and even more so living in Madel’s house, in Madel’s bedroom, at least with him she will have all the freedom in the world to be herself and that’s all he can offer her, himself. Not much hey?

Eventually when Dezi returns, she’s more confused than ever and gets into a massive argument with Madel who assumes she had a secret rendevouz with Douw in Witrivier.


The two eventually have dinner together and he pushes her for an answer not willing to play second fiddle any longer. Dezi is unable to make a decision right then which upsets Douw and he storms out angrily.

The next day, things are tense in the Terreblanche house, JH is trying his best to be accommodating towards Dezi, but she’s not letting him in, she tries to avoid him at all costs.

While sitting in Oppiekoffie, Dezi overhears Charmaine showing Ryno an article about Theuns, yes Dezi’s Theuns, who was in an accident in Belgium, apparently a train derailed and there were very few survivors.


Later, Dezi is anxiously trying to get information about Theuns but nobody is able to tell her anything. She’s clearly upset and pushes everyone away, by everyone I mean Douw and JH. It’s as clear as daylight, Dezi doesn’t really love Douw, she’s just transferring what she feels for Theuns onto Douw and her reaction to this news about him proves that for Dezi, it will always be Theuns, her first love.

In order to get more information about Theuns, Dezi makes her way to the Hillside offices and begs Paula to use her contacts to find out if Theuns has survived the train accident.

That evening, Paula hurriedly comes to tell Dezi the news she was dreading, Theuns did not survive, he was among the dead.

Now my question is, why bring any mention of Theuns back in the picture, what use is all of this if he is dead unless Paula got it wrong and he is perhaps alive? If he is alive, will Dezi then run off to Germany to be with her beloved and forget this nonsense ever happened with Douw? At least if she leaves JH by going after Theuns, it will definitely be more acceptable than her running off with that horrible Douw.

Lets hope that Theuns is indeed alive and they didn’t just bring this in for Dezi to get closure and make her lose hope of her first love and go for her next best option, Douw, damn I hope this doesn’t happen.

Bye Bye Brandt

The last time we discussed Brandt, we were speculating about him being a good guy or a bad guy, turns out he was the good guy.


Brandt aka Gideon was a journalist from Gabarone, he was trying to uncover a mega story about a hijacking syndicate but before he could get to the master behind it all, his girlfriend, also a journalist was in a freak accident. Later it was discovered that the syndicate had her killed to get Gideon to back off.

Gideon needed to get revenge and the perfect opportunity came up when Nellie advertised for an acting editor for the Hillside Times. He needed to go undercover so that the syndicate were none the wiser, hence the name Brandt van den Bergh. Gideon, however, did not bargain on falling for the lovely Paula van der Lecq, Social, Beauty, Fashion aaaaand Literary Editor of the Hillside Times.

The moment Paula set eyes on Brandt, there was an immediate attraction, the chemistry between them was hot, hot, hot. Paula was smitten, her bolletjie blom Altie was long forgotten, Brandt made a woman out of Paula.

Then Paula discovered lots of loopholes in Brandt’s story, before long she was on a mission to uncover his secrets. With Aggie’s help, Paula discovered that Brandt was hiding his real identity and she and Ags decided to put their investigative journalism to the test. They needn’t have bothered because they opened a mega can of worms and it was rotten to the core.

Brandt somehow seemed to be involved in the hijackings which had recently taken place in Hillside, the story that Mandla was trying to uncover. Brandt was repeatedly seen with a certain businessman and after checking on the net, Paula realized it was the CEO of the Kisangani Trust, a charity organisation. Later they learnt that it’s a front for illegal bank deposits for cars which were being hijacked.


Evenutally Brandt came clean and spilled the beans to Paula. He told her about wanting to uncover the syndicate if only he could get to the mastermind behind the whole thing, the cell number was on the businessman’s phone because the big boss called him while they were sitting in O’Malley’s, if only he could get that number.

An idea formed in Paula’s head when she got to the office and found an invitation to some exhibition for the Kisangani Trust. With Aggie’s help, Paula embarked on a mission to get that cell number. She donned a red wig, dressed seductively, put on heavy make-up and went to the expo with the intention of seducing the CEO and getting that cell number all in an effort to help her beloved Brandt.

She was playing a dangerous game and Brandt had no idea what she was up to. When she got there, Dezi and JH were also there but Paula sternly told Dezi to pretend she don’t know her. Her plan was put in motion as she pretended to be Valerie and since the CEO had a thing for redheads, Paula immediately attracted his attention. Before long the two headed over to the club and were getting all hot and heavy on the couch. Paula sent him over to the bar to get drinks and managed to get to his cellphone in his jacket pocket. She excused herself, went to the ladies room and jotted down the number.


When she got back she put his phone into his jacket pocket and tried to make a get-away claiming she had lost her contact and was blind as a bat without it. She hurried off but the CEO realized something was amiss when he found his cell in the wrong pocket. When Paula got to her flat, she removed her wig and before she knew it, the man was in her flat, his gloved hands were clenched and he was ready to strangle Paula for messing with him as he recognized her as Brandt’s girl.


All’s well that ends well, right? WRONG!

The next evening, Paula and Brandt were lying nestled in each other’s arms and even though it wasn’t shown (this is 7de Laan we’re talking about) it was clear they had made love. Paula fell asleep and the way Brandt carefully covered her with a blanket and the sad music in the background, it was clear Brandt was basically saying goodbye.


When he got outside the flat, he received a call on his cell telling him that he thinks its over, but its not. It’s clear there are some very angry people still out there who have not been arrested and they want to take Brandt out for exposing their crimes.

The next day when Paula finds out that Brandt had not come into the office and is nowhere to be found, she goes to his flat and later tells Karien that the syndicate has gotten hold of Brandt since all his belongings are still there but it seemed he was interrupted because the tv was still on and there was half cup of coffee on the table.

Paula is beside herself with worry and takes no notice of a mysterious package which arrives for her. It’s a cellphone and later she receives an sms inviting her to some party starting at 22:00 at some warehouse. It dawns on her that it must be a message from Brandt wanting her to meet him there. She decides to go meet her love and ignores Aggie’s warnings that it could be a trap.

Paula sure has more guts than me because I would never go to a deserted warehouse at night, I mean this is South Africa afterall. When she gets there, she calls out to Brandt but nothing, there were some creepy noises and the next minute somebody grabs Paula by the neck and she screams.

It was Brandt telling her to shoosh, they kissed and held each other and the scene was so tender and sweet and yeah I’m getting all soppy here but it was basically Brandt’s last scene as he bid Paula goodbye. He tried to silence her with his kisses but she protested demanding that she run away with him but he insisted it’s too dangerous, he will not let her live her life being on the run.


That was that, Paula was left with a broken heart and she seemed very teary and emotional in the days after Brandt left. It was beautiful while it lasted but we all know love sucks in soapies.

Hello Bart, welcome back!

Tessa and Danny found a tramp lying in the arcade, he was filthy, smelling like crap, his shoes were broken, clothing torn and when Diederik entered the arcade, he tried to get the tramp out , it was bad for business afterall. The tramp was quite stubborn and when Oom Oubaas came onto the scene, he tried to get the guy to leave but as the guy turned his face towards Oom Oubaas, he let out a surprised gasp “Bartman”, yes old Bart was back looking the worse for wear but he was back.


Lots of fans didn’t take too kindly to his new hairdo though, he had grown his hair long and tied it back in a ponytail which looked decidedly better than the hair hanging all over his face.


As most of you will remember, Bart was the previous owner of the Deli which he sold to Mr Meintjies. Bart has had his fair share of being unlucky inlove, the only ones never to disappint him were his two champion birds, Breebors and Becky, at least they never let him down.


When things didn’t work out between him and Libby, he decided to throw in the towel, pack and up and head into remote parts of Africa to reacquaint himself with the bush.

Now he was back and judging by his appearance things were not looking good for Bart. It was him making all those collect calls to the Deli and Oppiekoffie. He had not a cent on his name, Hilda and Oubaas decided to take him and nurse him back to health. After sleeping for a day or two, we finally learnt what had happened to old Bartman. His 4X4 was stolen, he had no money, nothing and he walked and hitchhiked his way back to Hillside.

The young folk of Hillside decided to throw him a welcome back party and instead of giving him a present, they decided to collect money since he badly needed the dough.


Bart was hard up, he desperately needed a job and it was awkward as he hinted at Vince and JH for a job. Eventually Charmaine was kind enough to offer him the position of Supervisor in the kitchen at Oppiekoffie and Bart was only too grateful for the opportunity and to be back in a kitchen doing what he loves best, cooking up a storm.

The moment Bart laid eyes on Tessa, he fell inlove. We all know how Bart’s heart works, he falls easily inlove but because of all the disappointments in his past, he was not willing to pursue Tessa.


She on the other hand didn’t think much about Bart, he was always tongue tied and seemed clumsy and nervous around her. Alyce told her that when Bart is inlove, he acts clumsy and this made Tessa look at Bart with new eyes. It was clear there was an undeniable attraction between the two and Tessa took it upon herself to ask him out but he made up some silly excuse. Just when she was about to throw in the towel and give up, Bart made his feelings known to her.


In total Bart style, he stuttered and stumbled over his words trying to explain to Tessa how he felt and it worked like a charm because Tessa felt exactly the same way.

Over the next few days we see Bart courting Tessa in the most romantic way possible, making her all sorts of delicacies, arranging a romantic candlelit dinner for the two of them in the arcade and eventually he decided to pop the question.


It was your typical whirlwind romance but it was right for the two of them, they were well suited and Tessa was as crazy about Bart as he was about her, it was just PERFECTION or was it?


The smell of death hangs in the air

When Bart asked Hilda for painkillers for his back, we knew something was amiss there was way too much fuss made about it. Eventually Bart’s back was killing him and Tessa insisted he go see her doctor which he did. Lots of tests were taken and blood samples drawn and before long, Bart was called back to the doctor who wanted to speak to him about the results of his tests.


Bart eventually confided in Hildatjie about his illness. Apparently when he was in the Congo and got sick, he was taken to the local doctor who gave him some strange medicine but the very thing which was supposed to heal him has actually poisoned his liver, to the point that he is knocking on death’s door.

BOTTOM LINE – BART IS DYING! HOW CRUEL CAN THE SOAPIE GODS BE?

Why bring this adored character back, have him fall for the girl of his dreams and get her too, only to have him leave again, only this time it will be permanent?

Unless Bart can receive a liver which is highly unlikely and a liver transplant can be done, Bart is as good as dead. Not thinking clearly, Bart has accepted his fate and has decided to run off goodness knows where but he can’t tell Tessa the truth, it would just break her.

Against Hilda’s protests, Bart decides to dump Tessa and at O’malley’s he breaks it to her that she was just a fling, he’s leaving again, he does not love her, etc. It was the most heartbreaking thing to watch seeing Tessa’s face go from smiling and loving to shock and horror.

Bart loves Tessa so much that he would rather she think of him as a cold- hearted pig than to let her suffer and grieve his impending death.

All the girls in the laan were shocked that Bart broke Tessa’s heart so, how cruel can one man be they asked themselves while vicious looks were thrown his way. If only they knew!

It was basically Bart’s last night in Hillside, all his business was done, he had resigned at Oppiekoffie, he had broken off his relationship with Tessa and Hilda knew he was about to leave, last thing, have a drink with his pals for old time’s sake.

At O’malley’s the boys are all there and Bart is downing the shots, excitedly telling the boys about his trip into Africa and how excited he was about doing it again. One minute everybody was laughing and having a good time and the next minute Bart was clutching his back in pain, crying out in agony as the boys tried to help him.

The next day everybody was speculating about Bart and Hilda was forced to admit the truth, it came as a shock to everybody that Bart was dying but the hardest hit was Tessa. The doctors gave Bart a lousy ten days max to live, if they can’t find a liver for him, he’s as good as dead.

Tessa quickly made her way to the hospital to be by Bart’s side and promised him that she wants to be there for him every step of the way. Soon Bart is released from hospital since there’s nothing they can do for him. As brave as Bart was trying to be, it was clear he was in immense pain and his friends were very supportive trying to be positive and to make his last days as pleasant as possible.

It’s a sad, sad state of affairs,will Bart survive or did he come back only to leave more permanently this time?

Some forum members suggested, Dezi be killed off and her liver given to Bart, what are the chances?


T&T’s Fitness Centre is open for business

Bruynwaves decided to have a competition to open T&T’s fitness centre. Things were going well as entries streamed in.


The first round, Hilda, Oubaas and Aggie were knocked out when Oubaas completely messed up the routine because earlier Tessa had tried to sabotage them by confusing the old man about his steps.

Matrone and her oldies were also knocked out since the bend and stretch did not have enough punch, besides the two old couples seemed more inlove with each other than bothered about their routine.


The three teams to make it to the next round were the Meintjies Mean Machine with Vanessa, Xander and Vince; next up was the three girls, Karien, Alyce and Tessa and finally the last team was made up of Felicity, Diederik and Kabelo.



They were each given a finale routine to work out and the winner will then be decided. As the time drew near, interest in the gym competition was low so Bruymwaves pulled a little stunt to get people into the centre.

They spread a little rumour about Paula and Mandla who have declared war on each other, they were tired of the other stealing their cover story and the rumours spread that a big fight was gonna take place at the gym competition. It seemed to work as everyone flocked to T&T to see Paula knock Mandla’s teeth out and vice versa.

The competition was a roaring success with Kamp Staaldraad, Felicity, Diederik and Kabelo walking off as the winners.


Thereafter Paula and Mandla put their little stunt into action by pretending to fight which ended in a dance routine between the two, it was actually fun to watch.


Well after the competition, things seem to be going very well at the gym, people are signing up like crazy and membership is soaring through the roof. Seems like JH’s idea has worked out afterall, pity about his marriage.

Kabelo and his harem

We’ve long waited for Kabelo to be involved in some type of storyline instead of just being a drinking buddy and serving the patrons at Oppiekoffie but we never imagined he would be the ultimate Casanova.

It all started with Hilda teaching Kabelo about his body language and before long, the black girls of Hillside started noticing this hot hunky dude.


First it was Danny who invited him out for coffee and things looked good between them but they decided to keep it quiet and see where their dating might lead to.


Next up was Zinzi who started looking at Kabelo in a new light after Hilda mistakenly thought Kabelo had asked her out. Kabelo need not have done a thing because these girls wanted him, they were asking him out and who was he to say no? He took Zinzi to the same coffee shop for their first date and before long kisses were exchanged and secret smiles were given as they worked side by side in Oppiekoffie, also deciding to keep their fling a secret.

Two down, one more to go!

Alyce was a much harder nut to crack, she likes the lawyer/doctor type who are stinking rich and can spoil her rotten but somehow San Mari put an idea in her head that Kabelo might actually come from a rich family owning many many livestock and he’s only working as a waiter as a pastime before he takes over the family business.

This idea appealed to Alyce and before long, she and Kabelo were having their first coffee date.


Its funny actually, reminds me of a guy I dated in my student days, this guy even beat Kabelo, he had five us thinking we were so special, telling us the exact same thing, he was so darn charming, I used call him Clarke Garrison (Bold). Luckily none of us were really that serious about him and now we can look back and joke about it.

On the night of the first round of the gym competition, Alyce noticed something rather peculiar. She watched Kabelo like a hawk and saw him first taking Danny then Zinzi down to groundfloor. Alyce was not stupid, she got the other two girls together and out it all came, Kabelo was dating all three of them.

Instead of confronting Kabelo, the girls decided to get their revenge, they will make him suffer. First they will not go on any dates with him, making up all excuses to get out of going, then they will string him along and dump him before things can get hot and heavy between them. It seemed to be working too as Kabelo saw his harem fall apart, he was dating three girls but he had no date for quite a few evenings.


Then Danny was the first one who felt sorry for him and went on a date with him, Alyce quickly put a stop to that telling her she has to be strong, they have to get their revenge on him, next was Zinzi who couldn’t resist having a full date with Kabelo and switched off her phone when Alyce called.

Things were falling apart, it was not working because the girls were too soft for Kabelo, they really really liked him and loved the attention he gave them. Things came to a head when Kabelo’s team won the gym competition and were given R5000 each and vouchers to an exclusive spar, any girls’ dream to tag along and be pampered with various treatments.

The girls all speculated on who will be asked but Kabelo had something else up his sleeve. He decided to buy Diederik and Felicity’s vouchers and invite each of the girl’s to the spar on three different days. The deal between the girls was that nobody will accept the invitation so when Kabelo asked each of them, they were absolutely delighted thinking he likes them the best. Each one hid the secret from the other and on the day of Danny’s date, Kabelo pretended to be sick while Danny said she had a dentist appointment.

Zinzi found out about Kabelo and thought she had the day wrong, she made up some excuse and went to the spar, the receptionist got all sorts of ideas into her head about a threesome. Lucky for Kabelo, Diederik phoned him to warn him that Zinzi was on her way, he quickly got rid of Danny sending her for her treatment.

Before long Alyce got wind of what was happening and too made her way to the spar. Now the receptionist was grinning from ear to ear, her dirty little mind was thinking of the foursome awaiting Kabelo.

Kabelo was nervous, he had no idea what to do, he sent Zinzi to fetch more champagne, then Danny got back and he sent her to get bubblebath, then Alyce stepped in the room and before long she was sent to the bathroom, while Zinzi was locked in the cupboard hiding away from “Charmaine” . Things sprialled out of control and the girls finally came face to face, Kabelo was so busted! He had three girls on the bed with him but they were punching him with pillows and shouting at each other just as the receptionist came in with the strawberries and cream, what fun foreplay she must’ve thought!

The next day Kabelo had the sense to look very ashamed of himself as he sported sunglasses complaining of a migraine when in fact the girls had quite a time punching him up. They were stupidly blaming each other when San Mari pointed out that Kabelo was the culprit, they then went to Oppiekoffie and proceeded to make fun of him in front of his buddies, well his buddies had no clue what the girls were on about but they were all laughing at Kabelo’s expense.

I bet Kabelo has sworn off dating for awhile, maybe he should try Aggie and Maria next?

Livia and her never-ending flashbacks

This is probably the slowest moving storyline in the history of 7de laan. Do they want us to lose interest, why are they dragging out the story about Livia, the mystery woman?

Livia is now living in the Terreblanche house, Ryno is getting all chummy with her and even offered her a job at the Bookshop since Karien has been sort of employed by Bruynwaves and is unable to help out any longer.


Livia jumped at the chance to do something for a change and things were going well for her. Ryno was taking her out, dinner, theatre, etc she was a stranger in a strange country, not knowing her name nor where she comes from but she was being wined and dined by a very eligible soon to be bachelor, some women have all the luck.


Slowly but surely, Livia started having flashbacks. They were triggered by something she was doing or looking at and soon her flashbacks got more and more frequent. She saw hands at first, then the hands opening a letter, mascara filled tears on the letter, then it was a rose thrown on a coffin, a baby’s cry, she had a horrible nightmare about a man standing in her room, the coffin again, blood, roses everywhere, baby’s cry and off course the gun.


With memories like that, do you really want to know your past?

The only thing we know about Livia is that her name is Suzaan as the name which stood in the letter, (if the letter was addressed to her that is), when JH took her for a dance in the Terreblanche living room, it was obvious she can do the tango, she was also humming an Argentinian folksong which Karien recognised.

I just wish they could get on with it now. Ryno and Emma’s divorce has been finalized and he’s a free man. However when Emma’s manuscript lands on Ryno’s desk, he is blown away by what he reads. Emma’s fairytale drama that she wrote about made Ryno look like a self-centered jerk who never supported his wife, he tells Livia that his ex-wife made him out to be a monster.

This piqued Livia’s curiosity and when the manuscript was lying there, she took it upon herself to read what Emma had written about Ryno. This put doubts in her head about the type of man Ryno is and Karien came to his defence telling Livia that what Emma wrote was not how it happened at all.

I’m not sure why they are focusing on what type of man Ryno is, forget Ryno, lets find out what type of woman Livia is, why the gun, who was in the coffin and why is she being haunted by a baby’s cry, that is what we want to know 7de laan writers, come on, before we lose interest in this story.

Well the flashbacks and dreams were starting to become more clear to Livia. She dreamt of a young woman in a photograph with her, a funeral, cries, rose petals on the coffin, a man, an angel…….

The next day, its clear Livia is in a state but can’t open up to anybody since everyone has their own drama going on. She eventually breaks down in the bookshop when Matrone comes in and Matrone quickly phones Ryno.

When Ryno arrives, Livia tells him about her dream and the thing she remembered about the dream was the fact that her sister was killed, not sure how but apparently there was a man involved and he is the reason for her sister’s death. Livia was sobbing while telling Ryno and she mentioned that the man brings up feelings of hate and anger.


What could all of this mean? Was she on her way to kill the man responsible for her sister’s death, is that why she was carrying a gun the night she arrived in Hillside?

Neville in the middle of a hurricane

Charmaine was missing her husband, she had got back from her honeymoon in America while Neville remained on in the States doing his tour around the country.

One would’ve thought that when Charmaine returned, she and Vanessa would finally settle their differences and make peace but the stubborn cow, Vanessa that is, not dear sweet Charmaine, refused to budge no matter how many times Xander spoke to her to convince her to make peace with her mom.

Soon there were news broadcasts about a hurricane possibly hitting Port Morris, the very area where Neville is supposed to be. Charmaine was very worried about her husband, they were newly weds for goodness sake, she can’t lose him now.

When the hurricane eventually hit and she heard nothing from Neville, she was beside herself with worry automatically assuming the worst. Charmaine was inconsolable as she cried bitter tears, time was going on and still she heard nothing from him. Everybody was there to support her and encourage her not to give up, everybody that is except her selfish, brattish daughter.

When Vanessa overheard what her mother was going through, she decided to take the first step. She made her way to Oppiekoffie but decided to back out, her mother saw her however and called out to her. Things were tense at first as Vanessa asked about Neville but soon they made up, half heartedly on Vanessa’s side I might add. Her mother needed her the most and all she gave her was a cold shoulder to lean on.

Charmaine on the other hand was pleased that she and Vanessa had sort of made up and she was the one who went knocking on Vanessa’s door wanting to make things right as she told Vanessa about her sleepless nights and the two finally embraced.

It was while Charmaine was in the bookshop talking to Ryno that her cell rang and it was Neville telling her he was okay before they were cut off again. You could not wipe the smile off her face, she was so happy, now her husband just needed to get back then all will be well in Charmaine’s world.

Neville made his way back to SA and Hillside and it was at the gym competition when Paula and Mandla were making a spectacle of themselves that Nellie pitched up, Charmaine almost fell over her feet as she ran to her husband and everybody welcomed him back into town.


So the newly wed senior Mr and Mrs Meintjies were invited to the junior newly weds for dinner. Since Vanessa is totally useless in the kitchen, how come I didn’t notice this before, she always seemed competent in the kitchen when she was living with her mom, well anyway the fact that Vanessa can’t cook is becoming a thorny issue between her and Xander. She got snacks from the deli and Neville made a toast to them, Charmaine gave them a wedding present, a set of expensive pots which Xander wholeheartedly approved of.

Vanessa on the other hand thinks she can twist Xander around her pinkie, whenever he questions her lack of being domesticated, she puts on her seductive voice and gently touch his tie, a smile and a wink and Xander is putty in her hands.

Well Xander was getting very irritated with Vanessa and her cluelessness. She didn’t do any shopping and they constantly run out of stuff, she bought ready to eat exotic meals at a food emporium, they had no budget, they started bickering in front of people and Xander decided enough is enough.

He decided to buy a book and learn how to cook, he taught Vanessa about budgeting and who will be paying for what with entertainment and luxuries getting the least amounts much to her dismay and the next day she decided to trick him by making him pay for half the groceries she bought.

Not sure if their bickering is normal, early marriage growing pains or if they will both decide marriage sucks and eventually get a divorce.


Other Developments

-Things are getting hectic between Marko and Altus, they are currently busy with a fly fishing event for some lodge but Marko has doubts that they will be able to pull it off. Apparently the people arranging the expo where the competition is to be held don’t have a frikken clue, a bunch of amauteurs as Marko put it. He tells Karien how he feels but will not let Altie know about his concerns because Altie knows best about marketing. He proved that last time when Marko messed up. Will this be Bruynwaves’ first flop?

-If you were wondering what had happened to Oom Oubaas, he’s stuck in Rondomskrik with his dear mother, Moekie, apparently she needed help with the animals on the farm. The pig has rheumatism, the calf has teat problems, there are just endless problems and Moekie will decide when Oubaas will return to Hillside. Meanwhile Hilda and Maria have taken it upon themselves to faff like mother hens over Bart, to make things easier for him. Will Oubaas be back in time to say farewell to Bart?
