What are Your Beliefs About Gays and Lesbians?

I’m heterosexual and so that makes me sooo straight…I have gay(homo) friends and I love them…they are fun to be with and they are just like everybody else and they can be very supportive …atleast that’s how I see it …
My concern for writing this article is the way ppl still look at them as different and not from this world or are possed with some kind of evil…

I know a boy ..still young about 15 …is gay..and the kid cant go anywhere otherwise the other boyz hit her…oooh him because of the way he is. Don’t you think that this boy has the same right as those who are straight??

I know some ppl would say ayidalwanga (not natural) lento bt then how did it exist and why…it’s so amazing that there’s actually a big population of gay ppl world-wide. It exists and it’s not about to demolish bcoz ppl are saying nasty things abt them…it’s how and who they are…finish n klaar
I’ve had ppl come to me to ask questions about them....ingaba bayajola??…how do they do it (s**)? What do you think is wrong with them?? Is it the way they grew up??
And it’s funny enough that it’s mostly man who have problems with gays…
Even thou emini some men would act as if they are hatin’ whereas after9 they are so after them…
And I know some hot guys who are in relationships with gals and after9 are so inlove with men…and the person would tell you that he loves the guy bt is scared to come out of the closet coz of what ppl mite…
Must you sacrifice ur own happiness just to please ppl???

A gay man or lesbian is someone whose primary sexual and affectional preference is for a member of his or her own sex and for that they They suffer social, religious, economic, political and legal discrimination.

I liked the after9 show bt I must admit I hate the way yaphela ngakhona…what are they really teaching us there???
I think our SABC or just TV in SA is not doing anything to fight this homophobia in SA or is it bcoz they are also homophobias

Agree with me or Agree to disagree with me…I’m up for it

So bloggers tell me are u one of the homophobias in SA…

Or do u also look at gay ppl as being different and need help?

to each his own. in life you should always do whatever makes you happy. if being with someone of your own sex works, then so be it. i have played on both fields, it's not a choice between girs or boys it has to do with an individual.

unfortunately i neva got to see after9...i remember there were some issues of them screening it and it was put on hold next thing i know the series had ended...hawu bathong!!!

i'm a heterosexual (spelling!) but have kissed a girl (only!). it was nice and it was a publicity stunt (hey the viewers always get excited about nonsense man!) hey and don't nobody tell me i'm confused cos i know ukuthi i'm straight! it's funny how they're treated when centuries ago it was done so openly, esp the men, and no one had a problem with it. i think this is something that has been around since the age of sex nje and don't get y it's so taboo...

I think it's a imbalance of hormones or sumthinh like that. But I think 99% of gay people are the most amazing people I have interacted with. I luv them to bits. But that's just me.

Mina guys I think discriminating against gay people is wrong and insensitive. Imagine if you as "straight" as you are were forced to be in a romantic relationship with a person of the same sex, I bet it would be unbearable.

So I guess that how gay people feel in a reverse sort of way. So people we must just let bana babang be.

I think ppl r quick 2 pass jugdement. i had a gay friend at school & ppl wud ask me all these questions about him. it use 2 piss me off. i think we all have our sexual prefferences but it don't make us bad ppl, as long it doesn't hurt any1i don't c any problem.

I think indalo kankulunkulu coz why would one choose to be some1 that is hated and cursed at by most peeps, others even by their own parents. Would u say that then it's a matter of wanting attention from the public? I don't think so, bcoz u know what some even try to resist this bcoz of fear and wanting acceptance which result in them being who they really r after9..... I wont say that i hate them or that i can never be in the same room with them but biblically speaking being gay is not God's will. In fact Sodoma and Gomora was destroyed because of their sexual immorality. If you look at it spiritually you get to understand why there are gays. It's just a deom that attacks people who will entertain it. Gays need our prayers and the Lord Jesus Christ.

As a christian, I believe that God is greater than all and his will should be done. If he created men and women, there shall only be men and women. If anyone say that they are gay, they are not happy with what God made them out to be, therefore, are against him.
But then again, I am old enough to understand that as much as I want people to respect me as well as my beleifs, I have no right to judge them. I want to be respected for the woman that I am, so I respect people for who they are or whoever they believe they are.
But I totally disagree with people who are gay. Not trying to be disrespectful or anything, I think they should just accept their sexuality as God has a reason for everything.

I dont think it's like that at all...my friend which is gay never tried anything with a gal...he just grew up like that...and a certain age had to accept how he was..

No1 has a rite to judge and I'm certainely not judging any1 who thinks homosexuality is forbidden...bt I would love for them to learn more abt homosexuality

@Jordan: Nnyaa ngwana wa ko gae! I am not generating hatred towards gay people. I am simply saying what I believe hence the topic says what are your beliefs about gays and lesbians!
Thanks to the joys of democracy, I am simply expressing my opinion. I do not believe in gay people, but I am not nasty or generating hatred towards them as you put it.
If anyone thinks that they were not meant to be male/female and that they are trapped inside wrong bodies, so be it. They have every right to do that, but I am under no circumstances forced to believe that it is right. I am not disrespecting, but I think it is wrong, period.

The bible says, when the judgement days are nearer, men will despise women and feel attracted to other men, which is a sin. i think we as human being as special christians need to understand the bible for what it truely says. It says that everyrthing that was written will never change, for if it altered that will mean our Gaad is untrue. All these things are happening bcoz the Lord had forseen them and stated them. They are happenng so that we can see that the LOrd is mightier than anything, his word never alters. the bible says we shouldnt judge one another, only one person has an authority to and thats him. So to all those who judge gays, where the F do you get off qxn the word that was written by the messengers of Gaad. If u remember the death of Christ was forseen by the Lord, but when it happened even though it was a sin, did he stop it. i dont think so. I am straight man but i get so sick when christians use the bible to discriminate other people. You can be gay/straight infront of the Lord's eyes you are just his child. The bible says to him all sins are equal. You go to church and see how many "christians commit adultery, murder, and lie, and yet they have an audacity to challenge gay men.

I have a neighbour back home, since the boy was 3 u culd c that lo is not straight and now he is about 18 and is gay and even the parents were not angry at him coz it he had all the signs, so who is to blame in that case coz the kid was like that even be4 being influenced by outside environment. Wow! Slow down mense. Neither Religion, Science nor Culture can produce evidence to either support or denounce homosexuality. When you read the Bible don’t just read the articles that support your argument. The Bible should not be used as a life manual but something which an individual can use as a TEMPLATE to their lives. When you do something do it knowing the consequences and the retribution for your OWN actions.

Wasn’t Jesus Christ subjected to verbal and physical abuse by those who didn’t believe in Him? Didn’t He get stoned, beaten up and ignored by society that He ended up punishing people for their ignorance. Come one people. Come up with a more convincing argument and live the Bible alone.

Being gay is the reality. It's not something you can just take away and make it vanish. Gay people are just faced with reality - it is just up to them whether they would like to accept that reality or deny that reality.

I know that being gay is also not a game or trying to be someone else. Gay people are not confused as to whether they are male or female - they know who they are. The reality is just that they have their own sexual preference, just as much as a straight person has his own sexual preference.
To stay in the closet is just a reason to do what everybody does because you are afraid to be judged. Those who don't stay in the closet, have guts to accept themselves in public.

Public you need to accept this as the reality - quotes from the Bible are just plain judging other people. Let's just live our lives and let others live their own lives too.

I am also a christian my dear and i am also stating my beliefs which go hand in hand with th ebible. if i said all then that would be generalisation.God made and yes, yes, yes, being gay is wrong, u say u are a christian and yet you judge other people. Does your christianity all wakes up when it comes to homosexuality, coz u seems as though u have no problems going against the bible (judging others) as long as you are against homosexuality, sister sister go to church, read ur bible and relook at ur christianity and while you are at it consult ur dictionary and look for the meaning of generalisation.

Interesting topic, pity I only just had the time to reply. This is my opinion:
I meet gay people at work all the time and I think most of them have wonderful personalities. I even have a friend who is gay. BUT having said that, it is not acceptable infront of God's eyes, so therefore I have a problem with it because I believe God's work is perfect, so therefore if He wanted anyone to have sexual relations with the same sex, He would say so in His scripture. Kodwa, people must also remember that as much as we consider homosexuality sinful, so is stealing, lying, etc. So the question is, Don't we have friends that lie, don't we have friends that steal, gossip, or whatever? It is therefore not our place to judge, b'cos we all have our transgressions.. have lots to say on this topic, but I gotta dash.

Do not for a second think that God did not stop what was happening because of gay people, puhleeze! He did it becuase he knew that if it will not happen, people will not be saved, and then get born-again and receive eternal life!
Believe it or not, he died for all your suffering and sins to be erased and to give you a second chance in life, hence people get born-again and live the life that God wants them to live, follow the word and definetely belive that being gay is wrong!

And since u say r a christian, I assume that u do not only follow the bible, but live it and fight the good fight of faith. If your bible says that being gay is wrong but then u belive that people who follow that scripture are judging others, there is something u r not doing right!!!

Tshd21, all you need to do is look at your life and realise just how far removed from the ideal bible world you are. Firstly the fact that you say the things you say makes you not only a hypocrite but a sinner as well. Remember, Thou shall not judge? The bible says women should cover their hair, not wear clothes similar to men's, we should not only drink water, what about the christian take on polygamy(yet many of God's chosen men were polygamists), the list goes on forever. How many of those have you done? What does that make you? What really bothers me with "believers" is the fact that they tend to qoute the bible when it's convinient for their argument. Not so long ago the very same people who introduced that religion to you were telling you that being anything but white was wrong. Careful, next you'll be led to believe being poor is a sin. With the gap between rich and poor growing.

mary magdelene, one of the new testament's heroines was apparently a prostitute, but christianity is so unfair to themin the modern context- i mean, do you think prostitutes do this gig coz they like it? when you have nothing to sell but your body, it's a really really tough situation to be in, and has nothing to do with 'choice'.

Wat an interesting debate we have going. I think this is a very tough issue indeed, because for us Christians so much rides on our decision whether or not we support gays.

I have read in the bible about Sodom and Gomorrah and the destruction caused by males sleeping with other males(gays) and it is regarded as a sin. In fact there are a number of Gospels and sciptures in the Old Testament which raise the gay issue as immoral and as a sin.

Most of us are judging gays, but who is judging us heterosexuals?

Remember that these are also sins:
*Over-eating
*Drunkeness
*Sex before marriage
*Giving birth out of marriage
*Gossip
*Envy
*Hatred... and the list goes on and on and on....

Now, if any1 is exempt from any sin and can confess of not sinning, then raise your hand. We ALL need God and Prayer and we ALL need read the bible daily, it's not only gays and lesbians who need it because we are ALL such habitual sinners.

So, before you pray for gays, pray for yourself first.

Great response there VI 2de P but I have to disagree with you on the following:Remember that these are also sins:
*Over-eating - The bible says when Jesus's desciples asked him about fasting, he said "eat now whilst you still have bread, for the days are coming when you will have no bread, what will you do then.
*Drunkeness- If the bible was against drunkeness, why did Jesus Christ convert water to wine. Drunkeness has been around years BC, but the only thing that the Lord is against is drinking too much, for that may corrupt the temple, which is our body.
*Sex before marriage- I never heard of Adam & Eve getting married, or neither Joseph and Mary.
*Giving birth out of marriage -wasnt Jesus born out of wedlock, and so was Abel. According to me here are the ten commandements the rules we should live by as we call ourselves christians. Exodus chapter 20
"And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God…

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

Ever wondered about the following:

Gaad neva had a wife/ husband
Jesus christ never had a wife/ husband. the reason for that he didnt want us to judge one another by comparing to him. He knew these things were to happen and he was preparing us for them. He wanted us to see one another as he sees us, coz infront of them we are all equal. Aint no sin is bigger than the other.

The polygamy issue happened in the old testament but with the new testament, it's 1 husband and 1 wife and no way does it say that gays are accepted in God's eyes. I feel you my brother. That's why I love it when we discuss the bible and God, because a lot of things are confusing and it's so enlightening to hear other ppls views. Like the other day when I read in Deuteronomy about not eating unclean animals. Yo, imagine me eating pork, crabs, kudu, sushi, etc and they are unclean. So, it's really tough dude, being a Christian.

Kodwa remember that Mary and Joseph had never had sex, so it was not sex before marriage, it was immaculate conception. In this context they didn't need to be in marriage because no sex occured. Remember the angel asked Joseph to father the Child. So, I guess without immaculate conception, you must MARRY.

I think the bible is not saying - do not drink, but rather do not get drunk, hence the word drunkeness.

I for one Do not judge homosexuals per ser but the act of homosexuality is not right. This is according to my cultural beliefs (as stated earlier). For example if me as a woman marry another woman, we build a home in the eastern cape, when its tym to do ceremonial actvities, and men are sitting next to the kraal and discussing issues. Where would I go, I am the man of the house, I deserve to be present when discussions regarding my ceremony are discussed. But bcoz I am not a real men, I neva went 2 de bush (even if I wanted 2), I will not be allowed to join the elderly men. So that will deprive me of my cultural blessing bcoz I let temptations of the flesh drive me away from my Ancestors and who I really am. Homosexuality is the result of the punishment that we get from being far from the creator. The bible says “I am the Lord of so much wrath, my anger will be passed down from you (the sinner) to the 7th generation of ur family. Gaad new how homosexuality will destroy families, this is his way of punishing us. Even our ancestors have forsaken us. When they visit us during the night to bless us. They are shocked and disgusted by our actions. I say lets cherich what has made us, our ancestors we are proud to say ( I am Xhosa, Zulu, tswana, Sotho) bcoz of them. the devil has a way of twisting things and make them look like they r good,but good for us God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for us, all we need do is to Pray and have faith n God will answer our prayers. He can use absolutely anything to fulfil His word, so there is no better way we can fight with demons except through prayer. God will save everyone as long as they open their hearts to Him, even gay ppl.

Well said monchy, like in that FNB ad most ppl R busy gazing into others universe instead of finding their own. Instead of making decision, and judgements for themselves they uninvitedly do so to other ppl.

A person who's content with who they are and where are don't have time to look and judge other ppl. I always think ppl who have a problem with gays or lesbians have a problem with their sexuality.

i have had a painful personal exiperience with a gay frend..i was young and did not understand such things but as we grew up..he then started really coming out...he even tried his luck with me ..after all im the one he was close to...but me being so straight we ended the frendship...but leta regreted.......
a while leta and as i grew more i met very openminded people and learned a lot..they asked me a question that chached my views ...i will ask the sam question to you if you cant see it then it is you the prblem..
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN WHITE USED TO HATE BLACKS?we did not do anything wrong to them neh they just hated us for our colour,sometimes without even knowing you and its still happening now!isn't it?the same thing happenes to gay people~i have realised...i have lost a frend becoz he is gay..how pathetic of me!WHO ARE WE TO JUDGE! u aint God..lets leave it to god to judge..WE ARE ALL EQUAL....i am straight but dont have anything againist gays...I JUST DONT LIKE THE STUPID ONES!

I think in our support for gay living, we tend to forget that this is more that just ppl disliking gays for the sake of doing it...it cant be compared to whites not liking blacks. The gay thing has christian / spiritual connotations...it clealry says in the bible:

"If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them." (NKJ, Leviticus 20:13)

Whites hating blacks is jus plain nasty....gay is a complete disregard of the higher law....its jus giving into your urges....hey I have seen some women dat I think are attractive but I dont sleep with them....coz its wrong.

Am not against gays...I dont judge them...I have gay/lesbian friends too...but it doesnt make it right....just coz everyone is doing it.

Wow its been long,,i've missed this space...
Okay personnally i dont think gayism (eish big english) is right, cos it stands against the whole purpose of recreation which is what God is about. The fact that everything that lives on earth was made to be a male & female means everything it was meant to recreate (meaning to create another soul) so when ppl decide to be Gay it deficts the whole purpose, But I am not at liberty to judge ppl cos its the same God who created us who gave us the most powerful thing over anything that He created which is "CHOICE", he gave us humans that. so when ppl excesive that power who are we to judge? Only Him can do that... but the very funny thing to me is that the Bible cleary states that God is against being gay but there's soooo mant stories we hear about Priests being gay..one then asks WTF!!!!
