The long and winding roadI’ve been watching Generations for a mighty long time and yeah the writers have made me give up on the soap a couple of times but loyalty always brings me back.
In all the time I’ve been watching, I have never ever come across a soapie supercouple who has taken so long to get married, yep all couples have their ups and downs, obstacles thrown in their way, etc. but somehow they all manage to make it up the aisle and become Mr and Mrs.
Geez how many times has Brooke and Ridge gotten married in Bold or Bo and Hope in Days, Marlena and John? Why oh why is it taking so long for Sibusiso Dlomo (hereafter named S’bu) and Ntombi Khumalo to get together and finally say “I do”?
This is one couple who has been through so much and really deserve a break and a happily ever after, (even if only for a short while) but how long are they still going to be stringing us along?
S’bu and Ntombi have managed to overcome the following obstacles:1. Jack Mabaso’s interference in their lives making Ntombi so stressed out that she pulled a gun on him,
2. S’bu’s heart attack which was a trying time for the couple,
3. S’bu losing Afri-media when he stupidly left all important decisions in the hands of his friend who would later become his enemy, Kenneth Mashaba,
4. S’bu returning to South Africa from the UK, left penniless when he lost everything and consequently turning to the bottle, becoming an alcoholic in the process,
5. Ntombi sleeping with Thomas Mashaba,
6. Ntombi working for Kenneth at Mashaba Media
7. S’bu sleeping with Karabo, impregnating her, marrying her and divorcing her,
8. S’bu losing the son he had with Karabo,
That is quite a list of obstacles and in normal circumstances, most couples would never survive, which makes this couple the ultimate Generations Super Couple.
Lobolo negotiations gone wrongThe couple are finally together now, Ntombi’s pregnant with S’bu’s child and we all know what children, especially a son would mean to him.
The final hurdle they have to overcome is the lobolo negotiations between the Dlomos and the Khumalos and with Ntombi being a chiefs daughter, things were not going to go all that smoothly for the couple especially when S’bu has no alternative but to have his uncle Jabulani negotiate on his behalf.
Now Jabulani Dlomo is a greedy man, he’s out to milk his nephew for everything he’s got and in the process scam him out of a few thousand rands. At the first meeting between the Dlomos and the Khumalos, things didn’t go smooth at all, Jabulani was insulted that the chief was willing to ask such a high price for his daughter which in my opinion wasn’t that high at all, it was something along the lines of 20 cows and R45 000, I could be wrong here off course.
Jabulani convinced the other elders that the price was too high and tried to bring the price down but the chief felt insulted directing his anger at S’bu who knows nothing of what’s really going on, figure wise. In his anger, he upped the price, insisting he wanted 24 cows and R60 000.
When Jabulani and company went back to S’bu’s place, they told him the chief was asking a ridiculous price of R75 000, this means that Jabulani wanted to pocket R15 000 from the deal.
S’bu was angry and felt the chief was deliberately trying to make things difficult for him and the chief on the other side was thinking that S’bu is a cheapskate and had no respect for him.
Jabulani is a dirty, rotten scoundrel who has no idea what damage he’s doing to the relationship between S’bu and his future in-laws.
Last night we finally saw the lobola negotiations coming to an end as Jabulani agreed to pay the price the chief was asking.
Hopefully this is the end of Jabulani, I do hope that he will be caught out but I just want that man off my screen as soon as possible.
Now that the negotiations are over with, we can hope only that S’bu and Ntombi will finally have their dream wedding, before the fabulous Queen beat them to the altar with her marriage to Stevie Boy!
