Who will survive the tribal council duel: Hein or Lorette?
Last week Wednesday the credits rolled as Hein and Lorette were about to compete in a one-on-one elimination challenge to determine whose torch would be snuffed out and whose life on the island would be saved for another round.
This left two of the most popular players on the brink of making an exit in a Survivor tie-breaker. Hein and Lorette drew four votes each.
Bush expert Hein, who rewrote Survivor history by making fire without flint, has had a huge following from the beginning of the show and has been tipped as a likely winner by the media, many viewers and most of the ousted contestants.
In the Sole Survivor popularity poll on the M-Net website, Hein has been the favourite by a huge majority throughout the series.
Lorette entered the show courtesy of strong support from the viewing public. She won the Survivor Viewer’s Choice competition, run by M-Net and 10 publications.
Now their survival hinges on their sense of timing. Host Mark Bayly simultaneously sets off two stop watches and the contestant who touches a skull closest to 30 seconds after the start will stay in the game.
By Monday morning 83% of voters in an M-Net website poll predicted that Hein would win.
The outcome will be crucial for the remaining players. The tribe is clearly divided into two rival camps and the group that remains intact will outnumber their opponents, which will put them in a powerful position.
How would you fare in the 30-second competition?
Give it a shot.
