Behind The Name tonight:
Episode 9: Hakim Kae-Kazim
Broadcast date: 31 October, 2007
This week Nicky Greenwall chats to actor and director Hakeem Kae Kazim and gets to the bottom of what makes this amazing performer tick.
A classically trained actor in the U.K, Hakeem first garnered the world’s attention when he appeared in King Lear and Richard III for the Royal National Theatre, sharing the stage with Hollywood greats Sir Ian McKellan and Brian Cox. Since that promising start, Hakeem’s career has gone from strength to strength; culminating in his much praised role in the Oscar nominated Hotel Rwanda.
Hakeem is well respected for his work in both television and film, especially in South Africa, where it has made him a household name.
Based in the glitzy town of Los Angeles with his family these days, Hakeem was mostly recently seen on South African screens as a pirate lord alongside Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush in Pirates of the Caribbean III. Hakeem can next be seen in The Jinn and The Frontline.
