Daniel Ducks Out

In last night's Idols:

From the press release:

There were sad faces in M-Net’s Studio 6 last night as the remaining Idols contestants said farewell to Daniel Büys.

As Colin commented, the Top 5 Spectacular was probably one of the best shows yet this season and the viewers seemed to agree, racking up just under 950 000 votes (949 493 to be precise) - a new record for this phase of the competition and a new record for Season Four.

But still - someone had to go. Pabi Moloi from YFM 99.2 predicted that it would be Munro. Lindsay Batteson from OFM and Damon Beard from East Coast Radio reckoned it would be Jody. And for Richard Hardiman from 94.5 KFM, Selwyn Willis from Algoa FM and Kieno Kammies from Jacaranda 94.2, the bell tolled for Daniel.

“I think the judges’ comments do influence the DJs,” said Daniel. “I don’t think I was as bad as those guys said.” Munro just smiled about being called out again by Pabi Moloi. “I actually do like her,” he joked. “I don’t know what she has against me.”

But then it was down to business and Colin called all five contestants onto the stage and split them up “randomly”, he said. Munro, Jody, Andriëtte stayed on stage with Colin and Tender and Daniel were sent back to their seats as the show went into the first commercial break.

“I’m extremely nervous,” Munro admitted at that stage, but as Andriëtte told Colin, it was in God’s hands. Jody said she just wanted the news to be delivered quickly. Then, suddenly, the moment had arrived… an obviously relieved Jody was sent back to her seat. And so was Andriëtte, leaving only a very worried Munro on the stage.

But it wasn’t him either. It would be either Tender or Daniel, Colin announced - before going into the tensest commercial break of the contestants’ lives! “I hope I beat you, dammit!” Daniel teased Tender. But then the moment had arrived - Daniel Büys was the fifth-from-last contestant to leave Idols Season Four.

Do you really think that Tender was in the bottom two?

Ja i also knew just by watching Sunday that Daniel was going. I dont think Tender was in the bottom 2, they were just trying to confuse us. She got the most amazing compliment from Randal and I was shocked. He said something like 'Who am I to judge you, ure a proffesional' he was really impressed and i've never seen Randal speechless.

I'm predicting a great final between Andriette and Tender. Unfortunately my favourite from the start was Jody but I think the other 2 ladies are more mature vocally than her.

Hello Amanzingly, how are you doing?  Okay my 2 cents again.  I DONT think Daniel was the worst, i think Jody was horrid and should have gone.  Basically tho, it was a foregone conclusion that it was Daniels week, he even said he expected it.    I was sad to see him go coz i dont think he was bad at all.  how many artist sing live and sound good???  not many thats for sure.  you hear Britney sing live, or Avril Levigne?  They SUCK, but yet make so much moola!  (Well maybe not old Britters anymore!)  Sad state of affairs, but Jody is next to go, then Munro, Tender and Andriette in the Final and then who knows!!  i know who the judges want to win!  For me, i would like to see Munro win - he would draw the crowds and sell the records!

Hey Kanamags1!  *waving madly* I'm gooood thanx ;) hope u're well.
I agree, Jody should go next but she has a huge following.
Don't be suprised if Tender is the next one out 'cause of NUMBERS.
the end always comes down to that - whose fan base is the biggest.

My prediction is that Munro and Andriette will be in the final.
If worst comes to worst then Jody will  be there wth Andriette and my fave Munro will be out.

@ Amazingly, im okay.  i dunno hey, them judges want Tender in the final with a sore heart!  i just dont think she should win and you know my reasons, apart from which she really isn't (in my books) a pop idol.  stick her on a stage with a long dress with a microphone and she'll be great - but whose gonna go and see her and stand in the golden circle screaming thier heads off and throwing thier nickers?  (Or jockstraps!)  Dunno, cant picture it and thats what its about isn't it?  Not even Andriette, much as i LOVE her.  thinks she's fab!  Daniel or Munro have what it takes to make it big because of thier appeal.  Man, Munro!  Who cares if he cant see (or so they say!)?  they would SWARM his concerts just to get a peak at him.  Thats what idols is about.  I think Jody should go, the big bad world is going to swallow her whole and spit out the hair clips.

I agree with Kanamags1. Did you watch the AMA last night. I'm crazy about Fergie, but I'll rather buy her cd than watch her live. It was terrible, the same goes for Nicole Schezinger. So Munro and Daniel could sound great on a CD and at least they've got more stage personality than Andriette and Jody combined!

I still think in my humble opion that Tender has got a great voice and at least some energy on stage and therefore my vote goes to her. Hope it will make her at least stay until the final 2!!

Well Daniel leaving was so to be expected, those DJ's have not been wrong yet.

I was worried there for a sec about Tender but I don't believe she was in the bottom 2.

Jody has a massive fanbase and might just make it to the finals but I'm hoping against all hope that Tender and Munro beat her somehow.
