What more can be said after performances like that? I loved every single sweet note.
Each one of them are deserving winners, masters in their own field.
Andriette is soulful; Jody a pop idol and Munro a true rock star.
What I love most about this particular Idols is that there was no clear winner from the very beginning, no runaway contestant. Also the fact that we can see how each of them have grown. Truly amazing.
We were all sceptics, weren’t we? I know that on more than one occasion I had said that their performances had not moved me, but tonight I was moved. By all of them.
They all came out with guns blazing and I suppose we have to wait for the dust to settle before we can see who the last man (or woman) standing is.
I’m hard pressed to find a clear favourite song for each of them - all of them had exceptional moments in all their songs. Making it very difficult for anyone to judge.
My favourite from the very beginning has been Munro, so I will continue to vote for him. He has stage presence second to NONE plus he has a unique style and voice.
And he showed that rockers are multi-dimensional too. His Tears From Heaven was superb. While one could fault his vocal range here and there, you cannot fault his performance. He truly LIVED that song, he sang it with feeling and meaning and I could feel every word he sang. It’s no wonder Dave and Mara were moved to tears.
Andriette and Jody also delivered goose bump moments, in spades!
Andriette’s take on Loving Arms was simply awesome too. It’s a song that has been redone a quite a few times and I loved the arrangement she chose. It’s not everyone who can take up such a well known song and make it their own. My fave for her though had to be Walking In Memphis. The moment she sang those first few notes, I knew she was going to bring down the house. She might not have the stage presence of Jody and Munro but she sure kicks some serious vocal butt!
Jody’s best performance has to be Aint No Other Man. She looked sexy and sultry, pulling out the right dance moves and singing those notes (and words) with ease, that anyone will find difficult to do. Such confidence! WOW, she really has grown in these last few weeks. Dance With My Father was also awesome wasn’t it?
Munro’s Born To Be Wild was the perfect way to end the show, I was just sad it had to end at all. And I am sad that one has to leave.
This week I am going to take the coward’s way out and not say who I think is going to leave. Because, cheesy as it is to say it, they really ARE all winners.
I want to see Munro win off course, but if either of the ladies take it, I know I will not be disappointed.
The only thing left to say now is VOTE, VOTE and then VOTE again.
One has to leave tonight, so make sure it’s not your favourite.
PS: did anyone else catch Yummy Colin screaming out my name?? Not once but twice!!!! OK NEARLY screaming it out loud. It’s AMAZINGLY Colin, not amazing… find a way to fit it into your script OK?
