The second weekly TVSA Poll, conducted last week (3-9 December), asked the question "Which channel has the most appealing branding?"
It was a three-way race between SABC1, SABC3 and M-Net, with SABC1's Mzansi Fo Sho branding winning the poll with 91 votes (29%).
SABC3's jazzy pastels polled 87 votes (28%), while M-Net's familiar blue branding managed 79 votes (25%).
e.tv managed 43 votes for a mere 14% of the total, whilst SABC2 fell hopelessly short with only 13 votes, representing 4% of TVSA readers' opinion.
The poll was substantially more evenly-spread than
the first poll, which decided emphatically on e.tv as the best local news bulletin provider.
Significantly, the two winning channels - SABC1 and SABC3 - were the latest two to update their look and feel with new catchphrases, logos and other branding.
Both channels also recently hired new continuity presenters and clearly the effects of the new branding have been felt and appreciated by the viewers of those channels.
SABC2 clearly needs to put more thought into what their image is - they were last in both weekly TVSA polls conducted so far, suggesting viewers don't feel much of a connection with the channel.
Trying to appeal to both old and young viewers is a losing cause, unless you're Disney.
The third weekly TVSA Poll is now live on the site (in the right hand column of every page). This week's question is: "Should school kids be allowed to participate in reality shows?"
The fourth season of M-Net's Idols South Africa was won last night (Sunday 9 December) by 17-year-old Jody Williams, who is in Grade 11.
She could go on and have a successful career in singing, in which case an argument could be made for saying "Yes" to the poll question.
However, she could also have her studies compromised and fail to succeed beyond her reality TV fame, in which case it may have been better for her to have waited until she'd completed school before trying out for Idols.
The answer is in your hands. You can only vote once per poll - any further attempts are disregarded.
