Episode 55
Olivia mopes about sleeping with Elaine's son but Bette tells her what they did to Elaine was far worse. Caitlin takes her mother upstairs to lie down after having a few too many early morning drinks, and Olivia confesses her fear that Gregory will send her to the sanatorium. Caitlin asks her father to promise not to send Olivia away, which he does promise, but Olivia overhears and confronts him about doing anything for Caitlin. He tells her not to go there and when pushed tells Olivia he can't trust her after she slept with Del.
Caitlin meets Cole on the beach where they both profess their love for one another. They head for their grotto but Cole receives a call from Olivia - her whole world is falling apart. Gabi tells Paula she is her sister much to Paula's surprise. Ricardo asks for Elaine's blessing which she gives him so long as he promises never to cheat on Paula. He returns home and is shocked by Gabi's announcement. He takes her outside demanding to know what she's playing at and she apologises for coming onto him.
Eddie kidnaps Meg at The Deep and contacts Ben to arrange an exchange - the briefcase for Meg. Annie offers to make up a phoney briefcase, but Ben doesn't want to risk Meg's safety and is prepared to do as Eddie wants. Eddie holds Meg at gunpoint unsure whether Ben is going to fulfil his part of the bargain.

Episode 56
Olivia tells Cole she can't go on, so visits her to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. Caitlin tries calling Cole from the grotto, but he's switched his phone off. She realises she's been tricked again and that Cole must be having an affair with another woman. She calls Tim to bring her home.
Olivia apologies for the mess she's got herself into and asks Cole about his family, but he's not willing to share anything. He spots a family portrait on the bedside cabinet and is horrified to see Caitlin in the picture. Tim brings Caitlin home and goes upstairs just as Cole is leaving Olivia. She cries on her mum's shoulder unaware they are after the same man.
Paula invites a homeless Gabi to move in with her and Ricardo, but he's not convinced that Gabi is being entirely straight with them. Ben arrives with the briefcase and hands it over to Eddie in return for Meg. Eddie runs off but is ambushed when he trips over a barrel that Annie rolls at him, She grabs the case and Eddie fires a warning shot at Ben. Reluctantly, Annie hands the case over and Eddie runs towards the ocean with Ben hot on his trail.
Eddie climbs onto an awaiting jet ski and zips into the ocean. Ben returns to Meg and Annie and asks if they're okay. Annie runs back to a sand dune and uncovers the jewels - Eddie's got a briefcase full of sand. Ben is horrified by Annie's greed and tells Meg she's staying the night with him in case Eddie returns.

Episode 57
Caitlin has a heart-to-heart with Olivia and asks how she got over her first love and Olivia tells her she never has. She hopes no one will ever get in the way of their relationship. Tim meets Cole in the grotto and asks who he's been sleeping with but Cole denies having an affair.
Tim warns him off Caitlin and says he hopes he'll rot in hell. Gabi assures Ricardo they can put what happened in the past and he reluctantly agrees. He later catches Gabi getting undressed then as they mess about with the camper bed they fall into an embrace, and Paula jokingly accuses Gabi of making a move.
Ben invites Meg to stay in his room and he'll sleeps on the couch. They head upstairs and Meg gets ready for bed. She tells him he's like a hero from a romance novel, but Ben modestly tells her she brings out the best in him and how everyone around her loves her. Meg asks whether he does too, so he asks whether she wants him to stay or go - stay. They move in to embrace when Annie bursts in with warm milk and offers to keep Meg company all night.
As a new day dawns, Annie watches Ben asleep on the sofa and fantasises about him falling in love with her. She's interrupted by Meg asking where they should hide the jewels, which Annie takes exception to. Ben thinks they should consult Ricardo privately about Eddie's involvement in Del's murder. Eddie, complete with new wardrobe, checks into an expensive hotel in Switzerland and celebrates having the Deschanel jewels.

Episode 58
Casey offers to teach Wei-Lei how to surf but as Casey shows him the basics it's obvious Wei-Lei's done this before. He later offers to throw Rae and Casey a party to celebrate their wedding which they reluctantly agree to on the condition they have it at Surf Central. Rae expresses her concerns to Casey about continuing to lie about being married but he tells her not to worry.
Meg tells Ben she's worn out and asks him to take her home. Rae asks if she's okay and she assures her it's all the excitement of the past few days. Paula takes Gabi to Elaine to introduce her as her sister and she's not impressed Gabi didn't say something before. She later tells Paula she blames herself for the kidnapping and hopes Paula can forgive her someday for what she's done.
Ben meets Ricardo at SBPD and hints Annie might be alive. Ricardo says that if that's the case he'd have to bring her in as she's the only suspect, but Ben suggests Eddie might be involved.
Ben returns to Annie and tells her to leave town in case Ricardo is on to her. She says she won't leave unless Ben goes with her which Ben agrees to, before explaining how they wouldn't have enough money to survive for a year.
Annie decides she can't leave if he won't and tells him she loves him, but he only loves her as a friend. Ricardo discovers Eddie's on vacation - and in Switzerland, Eddie discovers a briefcase full of sand. He smashes the case in fury and finds a birth certificate for Elaine and Armando Deschanel Jnr's baby, but can't understand what Del has to do with it.

Episode 59
Michael continues to blame himself for killing Jimmy's father and he wants to tell Virginia and Jimmy the truth. He visits them and says he's got something to say but before he can say anything else, Vanessa enters the apartment and Michael can't bring himself to tell them the truth.
He rushes out leaving Vanessa to explain Michael doesn't want Jimmy to become too dependent on him; he should make friends with other kids, and also how important they both are to him. She catches up with Michael later and tells him how special he is to her, but Michael tells her to forget about him because he'll pay for his crimes for the rest of his life.
Caitlin meets Cole at the grotto, asks about the other woman, and Cole assures her it's her that he loves. Caitlin doesn't know what to believe. Olivia and Bette discuss their part in kidnapping Elaine's baby for Del, and that they need to tell Elaine the truth. Olivia insists Cole should know first, and Bette suggests putting the blame squarely on Del.
Olivia meets Cole outside the Waffle Shop, but he tells her their affair needs to end, explaining she's only attempting to rekindle her love for Armando Deschanel Jnr. Elaine overhears Bette and Olivia talking about AJ and angrily tells them she wished she'd never met him.
Ricardo discovers Sean give his statement to Eddie. Gabi tells Ricardo she's applied for a job at SBPD but he tells her it isn't a good idea. As it happens the job's been taken and Gabi insists she moves out of Ricardo's to give them privacy much to his relief.

Episode 60
Meg shakily knocks over some drinks after Annie moans about being cooped up. Ben tells Meg to rest and that she should go to Casey's party to unwind. She asks whether he'll be there and Ben hopes he will. Annie makes a fuss to distract Ben from Meg, so he asks Meg to leave, telling her she's very special to him.
He then berates Annie for her petty jealousy, telling her she's the most intelligent woman he knows but selfish with it. He warns Annie to leave Meg alone or else. Annie tells him how it's like Maria all over again, except this time she's losing him to someone she doesn't even like. Ben tells her he doesn't want to think of anything other than friendship and he doesn't know that he'll ever be able to love again.
After Ben leaves, Annie spots a woman creeping around at Annie's house. She investigates thinking it's Olivia, but it's actually Eddie in drag. As Rae calls friends to tell them what to say at the party, Casey tells her they've got to tell the truth, but Rae's unwilling.
At the party, Wei-Lei makes a toast to Casey and Rae and then, after asking Casey if he can kiss the bride, kisses her, leaving Casey feeling awkward. Olivia questions Tiffany as she looks at an ornament, and Tiffany accuses her of not knowing what it's like to be poor, but Olivia tells her they're not that different.
Gregory has a sneezing fit and asks Olivia if there's an animal in the house. Eventually he finds the cause of it - Spike - and animal control arrive as a tearful Tiffany hides in the cupboard.

Episode 61
Tiffany rushes out of the cupboard and grabs Spike from Gregory. Sean tells his father Tiffany lives in the house now and Gregory asks when Sean became head of the household. They argue later and Sean collapses, but Gregory thinks he's putting it on.
Eddie holds a gun on Annie but she elbows him in the stomach, demanding to know what he's doing there. She accuses him of killing her father, but Eddie insists he didn't. He tells her he thinks he knows who did. Annie kicks him where it hurts and leaves.
Ben arrives at the party much to Meg's delight, but tells her he's there to meet Ricardo - though that's not the only reason. Ricardo tells Ben that Eddie's in Switzerland and they'll get him when he re-enters the country. Casey asks Rae to tell Wei-Lei the truth or he will. She plucks up the courage, but Wei-Lei already knows: he couldn't find a marriage certificate at City Hall.
Ben and Meg return to Ben's and stand out on the balcony. He asks Meg to dance then tells her he wants to do something he's been longing for and they kiss passionately. Annie returns and her heart breaks as she sees Ben kissing Meg.
Paula investigates the registered gun owners list and remembers what her mum said about her gun. She questions the janitor on duty the night Del was shot - the janitor who had previously avoided answering questions.
He tells her he saw the woman in black's face so Paula shows him photos of possible suspects: Annie, Bette, Olivia, to which he confirms no. She then shows him a photo of Elaine and after a few seconds the janitor confirms it. Shocked, Paula asks again. Elaine Stevens is Del's killer.

Episode 62
Gregory tells Sean to get off the floor but Olivia insists he's not faking. Gregory finally realises the urgency and pushes Tiffany out of the way. As Sean is transported to the hospital, Gregory closes the front door on Tiffany. He later tells her she's only herself to blame if anything happens to Sean because she didn't tell anyone about the headaches.
Gregory demands Sean is transported to another hospital, but Rae insists he's in too critical a condition to be moved. Gregory threatens a malpractice suit unless she signs the release, but as they argue Sean goes into arrest.
Ben pushes Meg away as he thinks about Maria drowning. She later confronts him at his office where they kiss again, but he pushes her away and tells her it's best they don't see each other anymore. Meg asks why he's pushing her away again, and Ben questions the 'again' part. Annie unknowingly invites Eddie into Ben's, where he starts searching for the jewels.
Ricardo worries about Paula, and Gabi offers to go back home with him, but he can't shake off the feeling of the night Paula was kidnapped. Paula asks Elaine where she was the night Del was shot and Elaine explains she wanted to meet Del to discuss payments on the shop, but never actually saw him. Paula doesn't know what to think, but accepts her mum's explanation. As Elaine opens a wooden box a baby cries in her head.

Episode 63
Ben quizzes Meg again and she quickly makes something up about pushing Annie away. Ben wishes Meg could understand why he can't get involved and tells her he doesn't want to hurt her. He walks Meg home to Surf Central where Tim is waiting. He tells her about Sean then digs for dirt about Ben. Meg tells him Ben doesn't know she's 'Dorothy' because she wants him to love her for who she is.
Ben has a nightmare about Maria which Annie persuades him to tell her about. As Rae fights to stabilise Sean Gregory threatens a malpractice suit on the hospital. She informs the Richards' that Sean needs an operation to survive but Gregory refuses to sign consent so Olivia does.

Episode 64
Casey pulls Michael from the ocean as he tries surfing in a riptide - something he did seven years ago when Casey rescued him. Michael tells him to leave him alone, so Casey suggests he talks to 'his lady' about whatever's bothering him.
Vanessa and Michael discuss why his guilt has returned after seven years and she blames herself for bringing JoJo back into his life. She tells him he needs to tell Virginia and James the truth much to his surprise as he was coming around to the idea of keeping the secret.
As he tells her he doesn't know if he can tell James he killed his father, James and Virginia walk into the room. Michael tries to explain himself and confesses his crime, but James is not so forgiving, calling Michael a liar and a killer.
He goes after James and Virginia tells Michael she's known he killed her husband for a while, that she's forgiven him and her husband for being in the gang in the first place and that in time James will forgive him.
Gregory transfers Sean to South Bay General where an MRI reveals blood clots on his brain requiring major surgery in order for him to survive.
Olivia breaks down at the news especially after hearing the side effects are as severe as blindness, memory loss and loss of motor functions. Gregory asks her to be strong for Sean. Tiffany shows Sean his medical chart and when he discovers the side effects he's adamant he's not having the operation.

Episode 65 Part 1

After discovering Elaine is selling the Waffle Shop, Paula takes a hair sample from her mother's hairbrush and asks the man in the evidence room to match it to the unknown hairs from Del's murder scene.

Episode 65 Part 2

Episode 66
Ricardo catches Paula in the evidence room and she tells him she's waiting for Geddes. He reminds her about their date with Gabi at The Deep for Tequila Sunrise and she insists he goes on ahead. Ricardo is reluctant to be left alone with Gabi and drags Paula with him.
At The Deep, Paula excuses herself to phone Geddes, who tells her the sample matches the hair found in Del's hotel room. Ricardo overhears Paula asking herself what her mother has done, but Paula is evasive and leaves Ricardo with Gabi.
As Geddes leaves the evidence room, Eddie - still in drag - starts searching for evidence that Elaine is the killer. Elaine is shocked to discover Cole's birthday is the same as her son's: January 27th.
Tiffany finally persuades Sean to have the operation and Gregory blames her for Sean disappearing and threatens her with criminal action if anything happens to him. Dr Moulton preps Sean for the op, and Rae asks if she can watch.
She and Moulton used to be teacher and student, but Rae always questioned his decisions. He's disappointed Rae's not working in a proper hospital - accusing her of wasting her talents - but reluctantly he says she can assist him.
Meg tells Ben and Annie about Sean's operation, and Annie offers to leave them alone whilst they talk. Meg apologises to Ben, and he tells her about the wall to his emotions. Annie offers Meg stays for dinner, but there's only enough for two.
Meg says she has to work anyway, but she'll come back later. In the evening, Annie prepares a candlelit dinner for her and Ben, and whilst he puts on some music, she crushes a tablet into his wine.

Episode 67
Ben finishes dinner and can't understand why he's so sleepy. Annie tells him to have a nap and to leave a note for Meg. When Meg arrives she sees the note and goes upstairs, but is devastated to find Ben in bed with Annie - his arm draped over her. Annie tells a sleeping Ben it's not good to mix red wine with sleeping pills before proclaiming her love for him and hoping Ben won't be angry with her for drugging him.
Later, Ben has another nightmare in which he demands Maria tells him why she did something. Sean's operation goes well until Moulton finds one of the blood clots attached to the brain. He asks Rae to update the Richards, but Gregory becomes agitated at her evasive responses before Rae is called back into surgery.
Cole arrives to comfort Caitlin and she arranges for them to meet in Sean's room and he runs into Olivia outside who tries to seek comfort from him.
Eddie searches for evidence to incriminate Elaine and discovers Paula's test just as Officer Spencer enters the room. He takes a set of keys off the filing cabinet and asks the guys if they recognise them. Ricardo looks at them and recognises Eddie's key ring.
He orders everyone to search for Eddie who's in the building. Paula follows her mum to the cemetery and watches her dig up a grave. Elaine is shocked that the coffin is empty and when confronted by her daughter she exclaims it was all a lie - her son isn't dead.

Episode 68 Part 1
Elaine explains how Cole is her son - his birthday being January 27th. When Paula presses further about the kidnapping, Elaine tells her that Del bragged about killing her son and that if she told anyone he'd have Paula killed too. She confesses that she wasn't thinking. but took out her gun, went back into the room and shot Del. Elaine asks her daughter for forgiveness.
Ben goes to The Deep and asks Meg what happened to her coming to see him, but she gives him a frosty reception, remembering Ben in bed with Annie, and almost bites his head off when he offers to walk her home. Ricardo receives Eddie's phone records and discovers he's been calling Elaine. Eddie calls to arrange a deal with Ricardo, saying he knows who killed Del Douglas.
Sean's operation experiences complications with the possibility of leaving him blind. Gregory almost overhears Mark say it's his fault, but Olivia covers, asking for a glass of water, before grilling Mark herself and making him feel guilty for what happened to Sean. Cole tells Caitlin he's leaving Sunset Beach and wants her to go with him.
In the morning, Caitlin meets with Cole at the grotto just as he's preparing to leave, but she suggests they begin their new life right there in Sunset Beach. Cole can't get his affair with Caitlin's mother out of his mind. Ricardo enters the Waffle Shop as Paula tells Elaine she'll do everything she can to protect her.

Episode 69
Ricardo sees Paula in yesterday's clothes and asks if everything's alright. She tells him she was up all night talking to her mum. Ricardo meets with Eddie who asks for immunity in return for Del's killer, but Ricardo tells him there's no deal. Eddie asks if he'd change his mind if he knew Paula's mum was the killer and offers Ricardo the evidence to "use or lose" as he sees fit.
Elaine arranges to meet Olivia and Bette at the site of the empty grave. She tells them she knows the truth and Bette implicates Del for the whole fiasco. Elaine says she'd kill Del a thousand times if he wasn't already dead. Paula asks Geddes about the evidence, but when she goes to retrieve it it's nowhere to be found. Both Paula and Ricardo are evasive regarding their actions. Elaine sees Cole on the pier and ponders whether to tell him the truth, but then he comes over to her.
Rae confesses how Casey and Wei-Lei are from two different worlds, and Casey can't understand how she can't decide between the two like she can't decide about working at the Medical Center or in a hospital. They kiss passionately as Wei-Lei knocks at Surf Central, but after receiving no answer, he enters and is shocked by what he sees.

Episode 70
Wei-Lei interrupts Rae and Casey's kiss and begins to tell Rae about her surprise - they're interrupted by Michael then Mark and Meg. Michael tells everyone he's taking Vanessa out on a date and asks for ideas of the 'perfect' date to which Wei-Lei recounts a tale from Rae's 21st birthday involving baseball parks and fireworks.
Casey's version involves a beach and a blanket of stars. Everyone finally leaves and Wei-Lei hints at the surprise he has for Rae before leaving with Rae who's called to South Bay.
At South Bay, Wei-Lei reveals he's managed to get Dr Moulton's recommendation for a surgeon's job at San Francisco General, but he's surprised Rae even needs to think about it. Gregory catches Tiffany in Sean's room and calls security but then offers her a $10,000 cheque to leave Sean.
After some hesitation, Tiffany tears it up, and Gregory tells her he'll get rid of her like he did Caitlin's young man just as Caitlin walks in. She's horrified her father would do that and can understand why Olivia told her to keep her love for Cole a secret.
Sean wakes up and asks for Tiffany much to Gregory's disgust. Elaine asks whether Cole thinks about his mother but as far as he's concerned he doesn't have a mum. Elaine can't bring herself to tell the truth because it would be for selfish reasons. Caitlin meets Cole at the grotto and tells him he knows everything, and Cole is ready to confess.
