Bafana tought a football lesson

It was all systems go yesterday at the tamale stadium when Bafana played Tunisia in a group D nations cup match , after drawing our first game against Angola we all hoped for a win against Tunisia but it was not to be, as our defence which were a suspect against Angola were caught napping as we lost the game 3-1, so it will be all or nothing against Senegal on Thursday, i am still behind the boys even though the coach must do something with the defence and change Mbazo from that holding role in the midlle of the park but we are really playing well it is just that our boys lack confidence in the final third of the field.

the tournament has been running for a week now and i must say it is a very interesting one so far, my favourites to win it are Elephants of the Ivory Coast but i must say the defending champions "Egypt" are looking very good, this week the final ganes of the group stages are being played so it is going to be interesting.

The Proteas have already won the ODI sereies against WI leading 3-0 with two matches to play, it is an unofficial farewell to our favourite son Shaun Pollock who is retiring after this series, we will definatly miss him nobody in the world could hit the same line and length the way he did, i mean an economy of less than 4 saya  lot about the guys brilliance but a few youngstars are coming through so the future looks bright, credit to Kallis for a briiliant knock of 121unbeaten yesterday his was super as always. it over to durban on friday and i cant wait to see Pollock in front of his home crowd for the last time it is going to be emotional as it wa in PE.

Djokovic won the Australian open and i must say what a match it was although i was hoping that the unseeded Tsonga would win, He beat world no.2 Nadal in staight sets in the semis to suprise everyone, Djokovic beat no.1 Federer in the semis so it was always going to be a difficult final for both of them. it was the first grand slam not won by either Nadal or Federer after they won 11 between themselves.

Madenza maaan,I had to take antidepressants before I came to work cos after the cricket game I knew there was no way Bafana would have won.I mean no two national teams have won on the same day,and the trend continued yesterday

Regarding the game, the Zambia lessons were not learnt by the likes of Morris, that such silly mistakes are punishable by a goal or pressure. All those three goals werent carved by some ingenious play, rather our team gifted them on a silver platter...

But Im still happy that we lost, this is a steep learning curve and I tell you man, give them three more games, and by then we will be a well oiled machine, sans Zuma and Mhlongo.

And what do you think of Pienaar's game?Brilliant, isnt it?

I feel sorry for the coach, there is only so much you can do sitting on the bench and only have 3 subs. All these guys were picked due to their form at club level but hey you lose some and you lose a million.

SIR Shaun Pollock. You are a legend man. Only a few fast bowlers can master 5maidens in a one day format.

MADENZA
28 Jan 2008 03:18

Couldnt agree more, Pienaar is playing his heart out pity he did not score, that mistake by Morris was definatly uncalled for i mean he was not under pressure at all.

Pollock is a HERO finish and klaar.

Does anyone know if there's still tickets to sundays game at the wanderers? Coz i'm trying to book through computicket and its doing funny stuff, which makes me think maybe there are no more tickets. Eish, i was looking forward to going to see polly's last game. that guy is a legend, and a loss to SA cricket

I have very serious questions...

Does anyone think if the Tunisia team stood by the sidelines Bafana would have know where to find the goalposts?

Why is Kaizer Junior not part of the team? I mean, it would be consoling to ooogle him for comfort when we lost...

Modise was doing so well before CAF, can he handle "international football standards"?

The Proteas never dissappoint, you always look forward to watching their games......and when ever they are playing around jozi i always try to go to the stadium, those guys know what they are doing unlike some boys (i still think our soccer team should stick to the little boys little boys name...they deserve it)

hehehe Sego le nna i only watch the games (sometimes) for the eye candy. but i must say the SA team is seriously lacking in that department. i rather look for African virile men. yummy!

Mathaz
28 Jan 2008 07:38

What matters is not how well we played or how much we have improved but the scores.  What is wrong with ous, where are we lacking?  We seem to have a highly qualified choach, our players are not bad better still they seem to be so dedicated.  Something must be done before 2010, we don't want the rest of the world mocking us now do we?

i didnt watch either...i knew iTunisia were gonna give us a damn good hiding and what do you know... i was right... really hope the boys do well on their next games... i believe in miracles

Yho my heart was in tatters, can't believe we lost like that....Nasief, I was like WTF??
Pienaar was the only exciting thing for me in that game, I felt so sorry for him....

Guys, did anyone watch it on Supersport? Who was that "coach" with Dr & Rob Marawa in studio? He kept on insisting that Teko Modise isn't ready etc etc and I actually wonder why everybody is suddenly on his case whereas they were all like "he's gonna shine" during AFCON and stuff....
Eish mare soccer fans are a weird bunch.

Kele I agree with you on the eye candy....NADA in BAFANA. Except for Pienaar, Zuma & Bryce Moon.

If we win the game against Senegal on Thursday and i think with three or more golas then we might still be in considering again how Egypt and Angola play their last game.  If you ask me i would say we are out AGAIN!

There is no way that Bafana will win against Senegal. Even worse to have to score 3 goals, i mean duhhhhhhh Bafana is scared of the net and besides i-Senegal iyavutha bhe. If i was to predict the score i'll say Senegal will beat Bafana ngo 3-0

Mandeza, what happens now? Are we still in the tournament?>> @ Dimago- yes we are still in the tournament, but we must hope that Angola and Tunisia dont play to a draw and in the process we must win convincingly or the game between Angola and tunisia be won by a big margin.  i hope a miracle happens!!!

- On the Teko Modise story i think these people are just blowing things out of propotion, i dont think he playing really bad considering that he is inexperienced at the highest level, and as a playmaker he needs a lot of cover from Mokoena who is playing as a destroyer but he is not doing his job well thus exposing Teko, remember mokoena is an experienced player.

@ Kimmy & Sego, phela u guys must remember that our ancestors lived in the apartheid regeme and thina we are the rainbow nation, so if their grandson comes home with blonde hair, it brings bad memories to the ancestors and therefore instead of giving Zuma goodluck, they gave hime bad luck. Coz honestly did your'll see how badly he was missing OBVIOUS scoring opportunities izolo and the worst part is that the one goal that Senegal managed to score was caused by Zuma's incompetency...............mximmmm.............this 32 year old man is giving me i high high yazi.........LOL
