Misadventures...of worst jobs

Welcome back from post valentine’s weekend, hope you had a safe one. Thank goodness valentines over and we can get back to normal. Back to work, back to the taxi (metrofail 4me), back to the four walls, on your chair behind your desk surfing on TVSA. Back to your great job, if ungu Ded’u-achievile or Sis’u-achievile, or like me back to your not so great job.

“I’d rather have a job wiping Sadaam Hoosain’s ass”, words uttered by Bridget Jones as she walked out of her job (Bridget Jones Diary).

Have you ever said these words, or dream about saying them? I dream about saying these words daily, cos I’d rather be home, sleeping. But I have to come here so I can collect my paycheck. Compared to the past jobs I had, this aint bad.

Before you had your current job, what jobs did you have when you were still in Primary / High School, Varsity or before you landed the position you studied for? Did you end up in the field you studied for?

I have had a few k*k jobs, especially when I came back into Cape Town, here the restaurant and hotel industry is BIG. But the conditions and money suck, but when the money’s good, u get k*k supervisor on your case all the time! Grrrrrrrr!!!

I have worked in a pizza place, in a famous chicken chain; I was a waitress for some time. I enjoyed it at times, and some people make a career of it here, I worked with a 50 year old mama then, in the same position.

Other than waitressing (please, no offence), what are the other worst jobs a person can have or that you did? Did you know there’s even a website for worst jobs??

I was lucky enough to go straight to the job I studied for but I have to say my experiential training was my kakest time at work....I had to do skivy work, outside (in the plant) nogal...yerrr!

my job aint so gr8, maar i can luk as serious as ever while replying, or writing an article unless theres smthing so funny here then i cant help but LOL!

mina I was employed by a student agency, doing wat u may ask? I was handing-out doz promotional phamlets (sp) and boy was doing it in the sun somewhere in a bizy car intersection. I stil hate dat agency coz money-wise u would stay 4 like 3-5 months to get ur paycheck n de job suxs, but now am happily working on my pc de whole day - no stress - except dat I always want more money (nawe futhi u do, rite?)

@ overworked - i so relate the thot of it brings me into tears *sob sob*! I once worked edgards and i was helping ppl open accounts and it was a commission, so it was hell cos all the ppl who wanted to open accounts were not getting enaf to qualify - so a week will go by without a single application being approved... Ja ne kaa* indeed. Oh I once sold fetties too! Lyf was hectic back then.

Working for commission is THE worst thing ever, because the fact that bakubhatala in commission, it means its not a great product or not selling well (not a fact written in stone, kodwa) but usually thats the case

Example: call centre, selling insurance or airtime (remember flexi cell?) what a rip-off!

once me and my messed up tshomi, we were messed up then, we responded to an ad, it looked v.gd! ( a marketing company)

we get there looking nice and proffessional, we fill in application forms, were told 2 cm bck 2moro 4training, fine

the products they market are those nice smelling candles and funny things like that, so i decide ja lets stick it out and see. bcos the other girl working there, doing this was SO enthusiastic, making money, (as she said)

we were going around into buildings, carrying BIG bags of candles! my frend was sent to "market" @ airport

I called her around 2pm and said, ok, im waiting 4 u @fontana long street, lets meet. she said, ja, shes on the taxi home already! (we quit, 1 day only)

we met up and laughed it off, LOL!

and that was ages ago, maar i c sm smart looking ppl still doing this, maybe it does work 4some!

ZEE: Jet is doing gd in that registering abantu 4 accounts, i suspect, cos that table is always full, maar im sure its easier 2 get credit khona than edgars phofu

Yeah i use to sell atchaar from house to house but it was not always K*K and the profits went srraight to kfc and mr price , did I mention that I made more than 100% profit ja!!!!! those were the dayz I had a few k*k moments like when nobody wants my stuff or debtors who don't want to pay

@ Tertiary I had a part tym job, @ a surgery ownd by a nigerian as a secretary.

It was hell the first day I gt there: I was asked to assisst the GP with one of his patients.... ( WTF??) . Da 1st 1 ws Gastroscope: en da boy kpt on vomitin ( Nasti, ws veri pissed)... den the 2nd 1 ws a girl 4 abortion: Had 2 assist with plates en needles ( Gaaad!!! I lft b4 h cud even finish, en neva came bck, OOPs ws neva payd 4 dat 1 day service)

So I decided 2 stdy fultym en neva lukd 4 any ada job..... Wht an exp 4 me.

did I mention that I made more than 100% profit ja!!!!! NJANI? ubuzithengisa double the price? did u make it urself, wow zazihamba! wat did u put in it? it must have been in durban neh Spice? debtors who don't want to pay dat is real kak!

Aaaah such good days, my worst job was being an intern at a government department. I am in the engineering field but ended up being the PA. (Don’t ask why they said they are look for an engineering student).

By the time I was done I knew how to lie with a straight face, arrange dates for my “mentor” and dodge baby-mamas. Oh and how to come into the office and have no one notice that you actually pitched for work. And use the floor as a bed and wake up without wrinkling your clothes.

Sure joy I made it myself I got mangoes from my house and just had to buy oil spice ,and packaging which was not expensive at all the more I thnk of it the more i get tempted to go back LOl

GOOOOOOOOOOD morning all, happy Wednesday, half way 2 friday and pay week!

@SPICE, i think its a gd idea 2go bck 2it esp 2day, the opportunities out there. u could even export. its the BEE thing 2do!
Did u know i never had atchar b4 in my life! send sm my way. and im sure u had a special ingredient except 4mangoes, *hint,hint,hint,hint* heehee

@USERNAME: well atleast u learned smthng, i like the positive way u think, always find smthng gd out of a bad situation.
