It's been four weeks of quizz action and as yet none of the contestants on
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (SA) has managed to outsmart 5th graders.
Since the show's premiere at the end of January seven contestants have tried their luck and failed - four have left with nothing and three said goodbye with some cash. Here's who's won what so far:
Eps 2: Xolani Mabuza -R 16 000
Eps 3: Sylvia Westcott - R 16 000
Eps 3: Mumtaz Chohan Gani - R 16 000
Besides these wins no-one's come even close to the million buck jackpot - until now.
Sunday night's fourth episode ended with promise for 28 year old Corporate Account Manager Claude Harvey who finished the episode undefeated at R64 000.
When things kick off this Sunday Claude has to brain it out alone - he's used up all his cheats, peaks and copy's so the 5th Graders can't rescue him.
To prove that he's bright enough to play for the million Claude needs to answer three more questions correctly. If he gets them right he'll have answered 10 questions in total and have won himself R500 000.
He'll then be given a gambling choice: either he can keep the R500 000 and leave the game or he can play for the R1 million question and risk losing most everything.
Before making his choice he'll be shown the subject of the question but not the grade it comes from.
If he decides to play and gets it right - he'll be a millionnaire and if he gets the question wrong he loses his R500 000 and leaves with R16 000 - the standard guaranteed amount.
Can he get to the millionnaires question and if he does - will he play?
