You won't believe how long it's taken me to write this article! To my defence though, when I started I got distracted pulled off course and life had a party with me. But hey, 8 hours later, here I am about to get down to finally writing this article which is going to go in such a far off direction to the one originally planned it's not even funny.
Since in the past couple of weeks we've given ear to speech after speech from politician after politician, I decided that hey, why don't I become an honorary president for a day and give my rendition of The State Of the Nation Address.
It seems as if we are becomng more and more hungry as society for celebrity news, scandal and gossip. However since we have that hard-headenes that can only be inherited from our proud past with abo Shaka and them, we tend to be very peferential to seeing our own dirty G-strings on the line. With that being said, our own celebrities came to the ball game in a big way...
Dj Sbu is a man who is undoubtly a record breaker. His 1st compillation Y Lens Volume 1 smashed all other complilation sales figures at that period, his Y Lens radio show had a cult like following and his record label TS Records had a period of about 3 consecutive years where they were scooping every big award the was to win. However more recently he has been breaking some other records and having our tongues wagging for reasons I'm sure (actually I know he's not happy about), the ditched show in Mthatha, the "Borrowed" Vito in Mthatha, the shocking outfit at the Metro's, the tiff between him and Arthur at the TS Record pre-party and more recently the hoax e-mail going around. Almost forgot the speeding incident and Audi putting their sponshorship.
Miss Callie passed awy and then shortly after that wildman Zombo left us. It's almost quite ironic how things had been around these two before they passed away. Zombo's star, I'm sad to say, had gone down a long time ago. On the contrary Miss Callie seemed to be on the up for some weird reason.
I suddenly miss Bo Black...
It hasn't been all doom and gloom in our country of late. Especially thinking ahead to the April station re-shuffles. It's now old news that Andile is going to be hosting a show and that Linda Sibiya is one of the exodu's from Ukhozi. However the one corner that is really exciting me is Khaya fm. After bagging ever cool Just Ice and also the Lipped one, Phat Joe himself, it's going to be very interesting to see who will take the covereted Breakfast slot.
If we can learn anything from Entertainment South Africa, that s we are at a time for change.
To those that have gone before us look out for us and guide us. Rest In Peace young Bo.
That was your State Of The Nation Address in Celebritish and not that Gibberish they speak in Parliament
