HI FOLKS

I AM WRITING THIS ARTICLE WITH GREAT SADNESS, BUT I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO SAY HAIKONA KANTI WHAT’S HAPPENING? TO START WITH, THE WHOLE WORLD IS FACING CRISIS LIKE GLOBAL WARMING, HIV & AIDS etc. ON ADDITION TO THIS SOUTH AFRICA IS ALSO FACING CRISIS LIKE HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, PRICES OF EVERYTHING GOING UP ( e.g. bread, petrol, taxis…… u name them), CRIME, POWER CUTS AND………..U AND I KNOW THE REST.

WHAT I’M COMING TO IS THAT WE SHOULD BE STANDING TOGETHER AS A NATION FIGHTING AND OR FINDING SOLUTIONS TO THE ABOVE, BUT NO THINA SIYA SUKA WE ARE NOW GOING BACK TO RACISM STUFF. I MEAN ALL THAT WE’VE BEEN HEARING ABOUT LATELY IS HOW SO AND SO HAD TREATED SO AND SO BADLY BECAUSE THEY FELT THEY ARE OF BETTER RACE THEN THE REST.

THE FOLLOWING IS WHAT DROVE ME INTO WRITING THIS ARTICLE AND I HAD MYSELF SINGING LETTA MBULU’S NOT YET UHURU.

1. A BOY WHO WAS THROWN IN JAIL AND WAS TO BE TAKEN TO MOZAMBIQUE BECAUSE HE WAS TOO BLACK TO BE SOUTH AFRICAN.
2. BLACK MODELS NOT BEING USED ON CERTAIN COVER MAGS BECAUSE THEY WON’T SELL.
3. PEOPLE BEING MADE TO EAT URINATED FOOD
4. WHITE JOURNAS BEING STOPPED FROM DOING THEIR JOB BECAUSE THEY ARE WHITE.
5. A WHITE GUY STORMING INTO A BLACK COMMUNITY AND FIRE SHOTS TO INNOCENT PEEPS………the list goes on.

STUFF LIKE THIS IS VERY MUCH DISTURBING, IT FEELS LIKE PEOPLE ARE BITTER AND HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THE WRITE TIME TO SHOW THEIR HATRED. I’M AFRAID BUT RACISM SEEMS TO BE VERY MUCH ALIVE AND BREATHING AND WANNA TAKE ITS TALL AGAIN IN SA.

SPEAK UP FOLKS, WHERE ARE WE GOING WRONG, WHY BLACKEN AND WHITEN AGAIN? HAVEN’T WE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS?

All that i'm gonna say is that A NATION THAT DOES NOT LEARN FROM ITS MISTAKES IS DOOMED TO REPEAT THEM AGAIN.

The way to peace is such an individual battle. Its like the way to avoiding accidents on the road.
Thing is, it's a personal decision one has to take to live their life a certain way. If I decide I will tolerate other humans, if I make the decision not to commit crime, If I make the decision to be cautious on the road, thats what I''m talking about. Its a matter of each person making a decision.

i think the guy from the human rights commission was right on point when he said that perhaps u Tat' Mandela was too quick to sing the forgiveness/reconciliation song - not that it was a bad thing, but  it happened too quickly, without talking about the sins that were being forgiven...

personally, i never saw the logic of forgiving people who never even asked for it - and never really understood/acknowledged the crime they'd committed. i remember about ten years ago, my uncle once saying that he was so sick of being told 'well nelson mandela's forgiven us, so best you get over your racism chip on the shoulder'

i think what we're seeing now has been building up since 1994, coz the honeymoon's long over, and everyone's like 'is that it??' there's a lot of damage that needs to be really properly addressed, and until we deal with the real issues, and not the symptoms, we will continue in this vicious cycle.

WHITE JOURNAS BEING STOPPED FROM DOING THEIR JOB BECAUSE THEY ARE WHITE. thats not what happened. the black journos forum didn't stop anyone from doing their job. it simply encourages recognition  for black journalists which they would never get were there no black journos forum.

stations like 702 and highveld who were the first to complain failed to see the bigger picture. if they were part of the regenerating and redistributing of South Africa's wealth, then they would have black journos on their payroll and could have sent them to do the Jacob Zuma and other stories that the BJF covered. perhaps they don't have black journos on their payroll or maybe just maybe they do but don't believe they could cover a story of that magnitude

BLACK MODELS NOT BEING USED ON CERTAIN COVER MAGS BECAUSE THEY WON’T SELL.

has anyone seen a white Model on the cover of True Love, Drum, Soul, Bona etc or how often do you even see a black male onthe cover of True Love. it's because their primary audience is women and black.

hence, on this one I'd say it's about the magazine's target market. because Cosmopolitan features both black and white models because their target audience cuts across-

I think there is a very thin line between "target audiances" and discrimination and I agree with you.... sometimes "blacks" cry for somethings dat need not to be cried for.  I think  especially the case yaka Oluchi shows dat in some industries black people are still under the shadow of "white people"...If one doesnt appear in the cover of traditionally white mag doesnt mean dat they are not recognised or not IT.
