Week Two: Change of Strategem

Written by Khuselwa from the blog Cabbage Soup...and other diets on 26 Mar 2008

1.9 kilograms lighter! Yay! Or is this premature? I've heard that what you lose in the first days is just water. No matter though, I've lost 1.9 kg although if I were to round off it would be 2kg.

After careful consideration and looking at pictures of people with wobbly flesh (some say it is the effect of extreme weight loss without exercise?) I have decided to incorporate very light exercise into my program. This 2kg loss has inspired me to start taking this journey very seriously.

I had some really great advice from the bloggers who read my previous entry, so this week is about using some of the tips given: from eating two slices of bread with apple juice to having sex as much as 6 times per day (!)and having healthy meals in between.

Measurements

My current weight is 98kg, everything else is still the same.

Diet

Breakfast: 2 slices of bread with peanut butter , fat free milk
Lunch: cup of mixed vegetables, meat
Supper: fruit salad

Exercise

None. I've been told not to exercise while I have the flu.

BEFORE PIC

My Before Picture

With dedication and a will-power of steel, I will hopefully lose another 2kg this week. Signing out.

hello! good work - and your body is nice and proportional, curvy in a great way, so the exercise will just be improving a good thing.

tip - if you're gonna do bread - go for that low GI seed loaf - they sell it at pick and pay and woolies too. you stay fuller for longer on it, so won't be reaching for the munchies in between meals.

vegetables - just don't deep fry those babies... rather just steam them and put lots of herbs so they're flavourful, or stir fry - use olive oil!

and once you start exercising, you'll see/feel serious results - i promise!

Hi Khuselwa, Hi -Five on the weight loss plan gal. Wish i could start, i don't even know how much I weigh.
I'm concerned about your eating plan though. Breakfast and lunch seems fine, but the fruit salad for supper option is not realistic at all and it won't benefit you. You need to do proper research on exactly wat foods to eat and how they benefit you, eg. pasta, potatoes and white rice are not good at all, too much starch. Your eating plan needs a bit of variety so that it doesn't bore you and lead you off trail. Why don't you try the Special K-diet, (cereal) the box has an eating plan printed inside. It has very interesting meals which you can swop around. And never skip ur breakfast, its the key to weight loss and have ur supper atleast 2 hours before bedtime. Include walking in ur exercise to tone ur legs and thighs and strengthen ur back. Goodluck gal...

Thank you guys! It's a constant struggle ( I love me some KFC, especially the skin!), that's why I decided on doing it one week at a time.

Don't know why u blotted out your face though *puzzled as we've seen you on your GB* I'd pulled a funny face while that pic was taken...Not to be seen by anyone!!!

To everyone who wants to lose weight, join me lets do it together. If I can even attempt to do it, anyone can!!! How about you start today and then each week post your progress on this blog? To use Obama's slogan: YES WE CAN!

Thank you all for being so encouraging! I was about to have amagwinya (fatcakes) but now that I've read these I can hear my peanut butter sandwich calling!

27 Mar 2008 03:57

@Khuselwa

I know nothing about healty eating but try this website (What-Women-Want.co.za) and see if you can find healthy recipes, i use it for cooking (yummy meals ofcoz not leaves and green staff) and its become my bible, the best part is that all the jargon or sophisticated ingredients you normally find on recipes is explained and the content is very south african. For slow coaches like me i needed something like this. I found it on Bona magazine nogal, i think its their sister company or something! Its very useful for mothers as well.

Goodluck with your mission only if there was a programme to make people taller.

27 Mar 2008 04:17

@Fluffy .... im a size 28 - 30 depending on the cut and tall.
@Dabs .... i stopped doing that to myself, i just figured ukuthi we can not all be the same size and weight.

felfel
27 Mar 2008 04:25

Dabs  if you eat recklessly you will only be putting ur health at risk not just gaining weight, if you can't gain weight just leave and rather build some muscles, do exercises which promote muscle growth and continue to feed on proteins. When you gain that weight you might end up hating it, you'll try to lose it, increasing stretch marks in the process cos of fluctuation.

Thanx Shuga.

Eish this flu will cause me to fall off the wagon. Yesterday I almost had four slices of white bread for supper. I was so craving KFC streetwise 2 and the Sweet Chilli Twister washed down with Coke. I had an apple and coffee ( I know I shouldn't indulge in it!) instead. Am so proud of myself. Now the weekend/ month-end/payday is here with all it's temptations!

Nice one Khuselwa....i'm definately joining ya'll. I was on a diet from end of last year until december. i lost 8kg's and when i went home for Xmas people started spreading rumours saying i must be sick... hhay kodwa abantu base lok'shini madoda!

Basically i didn't eat much, i skipped breakfast (bad i know) and i ate at 12h00 and that was it...when i got home in the afternoon i'd eat a fruit and drink water.

The advise i can give ya'll is DRINK LOTS OF WATER, if you have to have bread EAT LOW GI... and stay away from CARBS as much as you can...Woza Summer, nizongibona kahle.... i've already bought my size 32 pants i want them to be baggy by december.....same applies to you all!

Breakfast: 2 slices of bread with peanut butter , fat free milk

if i were u i'd cut out the peanut butter. u should only have 2 teaspoons of that a WEEK!

don't do diets. tried them countless times and have given up! i am a 36 and last time i checked i weighed 73 kilos. don't know what my weight is. i've been drinking this herbal tea now for about 4 yrs. didn't stop even when i was preggies. it's got such lovely benefits like smooth skin, easier bowel movements (used to have such a problem!) and then apparently it does wonderful things for just about all your organs. found out awhile ago my colleague also started drinking it BUT she has 2-3 cups a day and she's been losing weight. i originally (ok, my mom got me hooked and left me high an dry telling me i had to buy it myself after i couldn't get enough of it!) took only 1 cup a day but now i'm reusing the same teabag (the thing is expensive!) and i have 2-3 cups a day. this i got from my colleague. i've noticed i'm also losing weight. don;t know how much since i don't keep check.i'm even losing weight around my waistline (something that NEVER hpanned before!) my pants are loosening up...and to think i've known all along u can drink more if you want to lose weight but didn't (thot it'd be a waste cos like i said they're bloody expensive!) and i NEVER thot of reusing the teabag. WOW...!

Khuselwa

01 Apr 2008 07:53

I've also just gone on a diet since yesterday. Have my All Bran flakes in the morning with no sugar and low fat milk, for lunch i have a fruit salad (low fat yoghurt) and i have a green salad for supper. Lots of hot water before meals. Dont know how much i weigh tho, am a size 36 but look bigger than that -am big boned. What else can i subsitute my meals with cause i think i'll get bored of the same thing all the time.

Mambox
01 Apr 2008 08:05

@Zolk for breakfast you can also have peanut butter on low GI bread...not more then twice a week unless you're at the maintaining stage.

Chicken breasts/fillets (no skin, i'm sure you know that) with mushrooms (boiled) its quite nice.

my favourite sure slim Pizza which is cracker bread with tomatoe and bit of mozzarella...put im microwave to melt the cheese.

Cracker bread and Tuna in brine not oil!!

DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!

hi Tiyaly- i am using it, but if you want to loose wait forget, if you stop drinking it you will gain double the weight, there is a shape at clicks,it does not stop you from eating but it reduces your food appetite and it has all the vitamins you need, but love that is if you want to loose wait
Ma beuty is very good for your skin.

Hi Maud,

Thank you very much for the advice about the effects of the Ma beaute tea once you stop using it. I really want to lose weight so I will stick with the shape at clicks. Whats the name of the shape by the way. I wouldn,t mind using the Ma Beaute tea once in a while just to improve my skin, therefore where can I buy it from too. Thank you once again

But I still would like to know where I can purchase the Ma Beaute tea just to drink it once in a while to improve my skin. I can't seem to find it in the shops around. Who are the suppliers?
