Make a difference

hi guy

Please take this to consideration and make a difference by acting now. South Africa is, what it is today, because of you, the youth. please act now to stop this.

Remember this is an e-mail from no where.

The piece I wrote with a broken heart

I might not be a South African

But I’m black, my skin is the same as yours
My colour is the same as yours
My genes are African, nothing but African
When your leaders were beaten by whites
I was there to shelter them
I was patient with them
I offered them food, shelter,
Most of all, I offered them protection

I might be a South African

I can’t speak Zulu, cause I’m Vhenda
I can’t speak Zulu, cause I’m Shangaan
I don’t know what an elbow is in Zulu
As much as you don’t know it in my language
Since when was Zulu the only South African language?
Yes……………I’m not from Gauteng
I was not born here, but I’m South African
Where should I go if you beat me
I’m not beating your father, mother, brother or sister who works at my area in the mines
I’m not calling them makwerekwere though they can’t speak my language.

I might be dark in complexion

I might have the foreigners looks
I might have the foreigners body structure
Now I am scared to go to the only place that I call home
I’m scared of working down the street without my ID
Whites wanted me to do that centuries ago
Now you, my black brother is acting white

Why should you Black South Africans do this?

What makes you think that you better than me?
Who told you that I’m responsible for your unemployment?
Who told you that I’m less human
If I need to go back to Vhenda……..let all the Zulus go back to KZN
Let all the Tswana’s go back to Botswana
Let all the Sotho’s go back to Lesotho
Let all the Ndebele’s go back to Kwandebele
Let all the Xhosa’s go back to Eastern Cape
Yes…………let all the Swati’s go back to Swaziland

Is this not ignorance?

Your unemployment is your responsibility
Use your intellect
Get up and work
Let education empower you
Seek humanity

Before 1994 you blamed whites
Now you are blaming me
Who are you going to blame after chasing me away?
Who are you going to blame after killing me?

For what it’s worth…………………..

I’m sorry I was not born here
I’m sorry I can’t speak Zulu
I’m sorry for being too dark for your Joburg
I’m sorry for cleaning the toilets you don’t want to clean
I’m sorry for doing your garden
I’m sorry for repairing your shoes
I’m sorry for protecting your leaders while they were in Exile
Yes…………………what you call Exile………..is my country
And most of all…….I’m sorry for building South African infrastructure

Please my brothers let there be peace and prosperity amongst black African people.

The piece I wrote with a broken heart

Not to be disrespectful or something but the writer of this article could be more helpful if they gave the name of the poem's author.

Since the poem has been circulating around the email system for quite sometime after the xenophobic attacks.

Im sori just wanna answer this one.You were there and offored them shelter and food oh thanx for that we really appriciate to hear that. But one thing that i know they went there maybe it was 20 or 50 ppl not more than 50 thousand we left bind and wait till they came back.So why you guys came here more 100 thousand of you?

andi01
13 Jun 2008 05:49

My answers
When your leaders were beaten by whites ,  did you come in numbers and say we are brothers and sisters if you beat them beat us all. If u kill them on June 16th and other days, kill us all. or did u say oh we will hide u guys until u find the strategy to fight back, anyways thank you for that
I was there to shelter them ,I was patient with them I offered them food, shelter, Most of all, I offered them protection, that  was possible bcoz the number of SA's that came to ur country was very low, we dont mind foreigners coming to South Africa, its the influx we worried about. If truth be told we dont have the carrying capacity to take care of a huge number of foreigners from the United States of Africa. A few yes but not an influx

All I can say is that "zihlabana nje ziyalamba"

Who can blame us for fighting for the little that we have. We have limited resources as it is, it is sad that we have to share the little that we have with people from other countries, people who choose to run than stay and fight, like we did for our freedom.

Linomtha, to me we are together even though we dont disagree, seeing things differently doesnt make us enemies nor does it make one of us stupid, it explores our unique-ness (if there's such a word) as individuals. it also shows the confidence we bith possess in the sense that we can both stand our grounds and not feel intimidated. yes we do dis-agree at times, but I respect u and ur opinions and we also keep the debate positive and interesting

wink wink, surely u agree with me on this one also, LOL

Hi Guys

I have received this complaint yokuthi ngi-attecka amaZulu with my piece.

If you can read it carefully, I'm talking about "Zulu" the language not "Zulu" the individual. I mean in JHB we .ok 90 % speak Zulu.

Above all...............I'm glad you read my "Xenophobic Cry"

You can chek out my second piece "Xenophobic regret" on my blog

Xenophobic Regret
The piece I wrote with regret

I can still hear myself shouting, singing,
I can still hear myself sayin’ “ f*ckof, This is not your home”
All I thought was, “we just are threatening them” until………….
Until I saw objects being thrown at him….
Until I saw him being kicked everywhere…
Until I saw blood running out of his nose, ears, eyes, arms, legs
Then reality hit me and I began to realise….........

kind of Simmone? so that means u don't believe it is plagerised.

Simmone
28 Jul 2008 09:53

Nonny, there is a 50/50 chance that the poem isnt the original work of the author Deejay, but a piece that anonymously made its way into email system and the net. Unless Deejay can prove beyond reasonable doubt its his/her own work, i am believing plagerism.

You have more than 20 people on the net claiming the piece.

Deejay
29 Jul 2008 00:16

Yeah I know, I've seen them, spoke to them.

belive you me I can 100% if not more prove gore this is my piece.

After I wrote it I forwarded to a lot of friends and people who sent me emails and when they forwarded it, some thought ukuthi maybe my name is not needed kuyo and they removed it.

The most important thing is that it has reached places I never thought it will

I find a lot of hypocricy and irony in this poem, the poet claims that he has been mistreated and discriminated against by other black SA's but isnt telling all Black Africans (i.e Xhosa's to go back to the Eastern cape), discrimination. WHat makes the poet think that all Xhosa's are from the Eastren Cape. Two wrongs dont make a right, I find the poem to be very offensive to Black SA's that arent xenophobic.

andi01
29 Jul 2008 01:47

When your leaders were beaten by whites, did you come and say, hey we all Africans, if you kill my African brothers kill us all, coz an injury to one is an injury to all, i dont think so. Give me one name of a black non-SA'n killed on the June 16th

I was there to shelter them -yes those few leaders and soldiers, but to be realistic SA doesnt have the carrying capacity for the huge influx of people coming in from outside. and some people even act as if SA's owe them something.

"This is just an attack on AmaZulu -- u have made serious allegations that it was AmaZulu that attacked the foreigners? "
It is true that most of the attackers were Zulus and you also know about that eish-bo

andi01
29 Jul 2008 02:05

In 1956 a group of women from all over SA, risked their lives and matched to the Union buildings to fight against the use of dompass in South Africa. These women could have been killed, raped or tortured, but they risked their lives. Amongst those women, please forgive my ignorance and remind me of on woman from (outside SA who participated). Now Mr Poet did you consider those things before you implied that South African's are lazy.

andi01
29 Jul 2008 02:09

It is true that most of the attackers were Zulus,  not everyone who speaks Zulu is Zulu, i know thousands of Zimbabeans (shona and ndebele speakers), who speak zulu, claim to be zulu and call other foreigners "amakwere kwere", so be careful about that statement. Zulu's have been given a bad label for far too long, its about time that stop. Starting with you ratogal.

Guys this is how I wrote the poem (Maybe if I share you'll understand).

I'm a very dark person hense the "I might be dark in complextion" line in the piece.

So when I saw all these attacks I got worried because I heard gore ko Thembisa ne ba shapa maVenda bare they must go back home.
On radio, the DJ mentioned that some guys are going around JHB asking every dark person gore elbow keng ka seZulu. I mean some people are just plain Sotho and namanye amaZulu don't even know ukuthi elbow keng kasiZulu.

This got my attention and I heard to be in the shoes non-South Africans, South Africans and also my shoes as a dark person.

I know gore we have a lot of non-South Africans in the country simply because it's easy for them to get and feel comfortable in SA. I am not sayin gore they must stay (I mean our economy is not even catering for us) so obviously it will be more difficult to cater nonSAs.

All we need to understand and even Mandela said it "Pen is mightier than a sword ."

Pen is mightier than a sword  Yes but even the pen needs ink, how do you expect someone to share a tiny slice of bread. Coz SA's esp blacks in the townships are suffering as it is yet they are expected to share the little they have with people that call us sub-human and lazy, thats not fair.

@Deejay

Call me lazy if you wanna but i aint working for R50 a day coz our fathers died for the struggle and fought against discrimination. It is easy for some foreigners to work for R50 a day coz they dont understand what it took us to be where we are to day.

Your unemployment is your responsibility,  I live  in hout Bay, 50% of black SA's are not employed as domestics, coz they refuse to be slaves and earn less than R100 a day, guess who the employers are using for domestic purposes, our African brothers and sisters, who work for as little as R30 a day, now who is selling who, to the white man, who is betraying who???.
