In business, politics and romance, it would be nice to know when we’re being lied to. Unfortunately humans aren’t very good at detecting lies. Our natural tendency is to trust others, and for day-to-day, low-stakes interactions, that makes sense. We save time and energy by taking statements like “I saw that movie” or “I like your haircut” at face value. or you are ugly or beautifull.or I love you.

But while it would be too much work to analyze every interaction for signs of deception, there are times when we really need to know if we’re getting the straight story. Maybe a crucial negotiation depends on knowing the truth, or we’ve been lied to and want to find out if it’s part of a pattern.

In fact, being able to distinguish lies from truth is important for our sanity.

I think It’s tough to tell the difference between a liar and an honest person who happens to be under a lot of stress.

EKSE.....Skilled liars don't break a sweat, but the rest of us get a little fidgety. possible giveaways: shifty eyes, higher vocal pitch, perspiration and heavier breathing.ASKIES MAAR I HAVE TO ADD THIS 1(umoya frm wer the sun daznt shine) Of course, not everyone who doesn't meet your gaze is a liar.

@ cnhlanhlaThanks.I have told a few lies,that ofcoz didnt hurt the person i was telling lies to ngoba he didnt know that i was lying .I wanted to test uthando lwethu.kodwa as days went by I had to come clean.Everytime he told me how much he loved me and he brought flowers and chocolates all I could think of was wat lieas i was telling about him to my friends..As I said ke ninani I came clean.I came clean and I was forgiven and Loved more.But man Im still feeling guilty.

The funny thing is this, I am good at lei-ing, when I lie know one can tell that I am lie-ing, I am soo good that when I tell a lie a start believeing it myself, then I say it once and i have no problems reapiting it over and over the same way i said it at first. i also find that people trust me when I lie, and when I tell the truth, bathi i am lying, but I DO DOT LIKE LIE-YING, I dont do it anymore, its the truth come hell or high waters.

Guys, telling lies is not right especially in relationships, they are the root of mistrust, incesutiry and obsession. It is wise to tell the truth no matter the consequences. Truth hurts but people eventually heal and understand why you did what you did and thank you for being honest, hence the statement "atleast she was honest about it", Lies hurt and when you caught out and forced 2 tell the truth it hurst even more coz now its filled with doubt and confusion. I used to lie a lot and the consequence of that was guilty conscience and not being able to sleep at night coz the person I lied to belived it and sometimes they even apologise.

@and01 and guys this is true.Lies are shackles that chain us to a life of denial and pretense. Many of us have lived with lies for so long that we have transformed them into truths. They have grown to be our pseudo-reality. The darker side of living with lies as truths is that lies that are not challenged turn into links on a chain that enslave our minds, bodies, and souls.
