Ok, it’s been a while since I watched KK, 3 weeks to be exact, and to come back to this episode was quite coincidential. Those who know me know that I secretly harbour wishes of seeing people I know on KK, and while this might never happen, I came pretty close in this episode. Let me explain. I live on the East Rand, Germiston area, in a neighbourhood close to a kasi called Buhle Park, in fact, I buy vegetables in Buhle Park! So imagine my excitement when I realised the people in the first story were a few kilometres away from me, even as I was watching the show, oh, I had goose bumps. I could even recognise the streets. Eish!
That being said, I can’t not comment about Andile’s outfit on this episode. While we can all agree that KK doesn’t have the best wardrobe mistresses, they really did it this week, she looked like she was wearing a sack of potatoes, I swear, and that is no exaggeration!

Ok, the stories:
STORY 1: In the first story we meet Gana Ngozo from Buhle Park. She has written because of her concern for her congregation’s pastor’s wife, Nombuyiselo, whose health is ailing. Gana met Nombuyiseli in Buhle Park Phase 2 via church.
GanaNombuyiseli fell ill with TB in 2000. Her husband took her Germiston hospital, and her health has not been the same since. (This says nothing about Germistion Hospital, in case you were wondering.) She tells us that there were no problems at home, but she was just a naughty girl, whose naughtiness led her on the road to Durban in 1972, with a friend, in search of work. She had a child in Durban, but soon left citing ill-treatment by her boyfriend, and headed for the bright lights of Johannesburg. This is where she met her now husband, the pastor, and the rest, till now is history.
Nombuyiseli is now clearly rather sick, and is hoping going home might help bring some good to her health, which has caused her to even stop working.
After the church congregation gather to hold a final service in her honour, Nombuyiseli and her husband, who has never met his in-laws, head from the Eastern Cape, 26 years after she left.
On the way, the pastor asks that they stop so he can buy a hat, as this will be his first meeting with his in-laws, and he would like to be respectable when they meet.
An ailing NombuyiseliOn arrival in the EC, they ask for directions from a girl on the street, who leads them in the right way, as is evident in someone suddenly screaming.
The screamer turns out to be her sister, who is wearing a jacket I used to have, but someone in res stole from me…honestly, this episode was made for me.
Sister with my jacket
Anyway, Nombu explains herself, and when she goes in to see her mother, we see that her mother is also not well, and they talk about their sicknesses, and it turns out that the other sister is not well. This is also evident in their weight loss, as theirs is apparently a family blessed with hips and buttocks.
All in all, everyone is happy that she is back, and hope she will be well soon. At this point, I remember that Mfundisi is there too, and while I am aware that the editing on these shows is sometimes suspect, they made it look as though he was not introduced to the family. I mean honestly KK, you could have atleast shown us when his presence was acknowledged, after all, you showed us that he went and brought a hat mos! Geez!
STORY 2: Phakamile Dyantyi from Sebokeng is the subject of the second story. He is looking for his father’s family. His father, Kenneth Dyantyi is now ill, and his children are concerned that upon his passing, they will not know who to contact.
Kenneth last went home (Fourie,Mgwali) in 1988 to bury his mother. His brother Merika passed away in 1997, but he didn’t go to funeral because he had certain problems.
Phakamile
He tells us that he came to Sebokeng fresh from initiation, with the intention of going back home, but he was roped in, and ended up having children. (hai, men!)
So they head out to find his long lost home, with him trying to remember the way. They ask for directions, they get lost, and for a while, we see them at the driving around the same T-Junction (editing again, but still, KK shows us really useless stuff sometimes, just to fill the time). At some point, they meet two policemen, who know the place they are going to. They also tell them that Kenneth’s sister has passed on. This gravely worries Kenneth, who is concerned that only the children will be left where they are going.
Old Kenneth DyantyiEventually, after quite some time, they get to their destination, where they are met by a woman, and neither recognises the other at first. But eventually, it is clear that this is the sister whom he had been told was dead. The excitement is evident, as she hugs (shame she likes hugging) them and tells Kenneth that she thought he was dead, as she had been informed as much.
Happy family
She tells him about family that has passed on, as well as those still alive.
Although I did not recongnise any of the faces shown at the end in the missing people segment, this time I was not disappointed because this episode had been familiar enough.
