Animal PrecinctPremiere date: Thursday, 7 August 2008 at 21h00
In New York City some 41,000 police officers are asked to navigate a gamut of diverse cultures, languages and beliefs to serve the eight million people who reside in America’s biggest metropolis.
Within this mosaic, however, is a large population in need of protection that is often overlooked: the city’s five million animals.
Unlike their human counterparts, these animals are protected by a group of only 14 law enforcement officials who, until now, have done their important work in obscurity.
Animal Precinct shows the drama, emotion and tragedy of the work of the agents of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Humane Law Enforcement (HLE), the only enforcement agencies in New York solely devoted to investigating crimes against the animals.
Their cases include the infiltration and destruction of dog-fighting rings and arresting perpetrators who are starving and abusing their animals.

Mounted BranchPremiere date: Monday, 11 August 2008 at 14h15
Two half-hour episodes, one after the other. Both are repeated the same day (Monday) at 21h00 and 21h30.
Mounted Branch takes a close-up look at the relationship between humans and horses through the Greater Manchester Police Mounted Unit.
An observational documentary, the show explores the training and work of the officers, mounts and grooms of the Mounted Unit.
The series shows the Mounted Police in action - from crowd control at key football fixtures to policing a demonstration march; responding to the threat of terrorism to targeted patrols in crime hotspots.
It also chronicles the trials and tribulations of new human and equine recruits in their attempts to make the grade, following the intensive 16-week training course for new officers and the equally rigorous instruction of the mounts that will prepare them for work in the field.
