They were pushed to the brink, battered or betrayed and committed crimes of passion, murdering the ones they loved.

After months of negotiations, 3rd Degree was finally given exclusive access to Sun City, officially known as Johannesburg Central Prison.

This episode features the stories of three prisoners who, in moments of passion, changed their lives forever.

Candy discovered her boyfriend with another woman. Enraged she stabbed him to death.

Mandla married his 17-year- old sweetheart but the marriage was rocky. He discovered she was having affairs, but for years turned a blind eye to her cheating. Finally, he reached breaking point and used a rope to strangle her, “killing her like a cow”.

Rethea was in an abusive marriage. She feared for her life and in desperation, having tried almost every alternative, she turned to a hit man to end her anguish.

All were found guilty of murder, and now rub shoulders with career criminals, rapists and gangsters.

Y? Carino
Debra? she's okay...although she irritated me one day when she was pushing Mandoza's "capable homicide case"

I don't agree Carino, Debrah is the right person for the job, besides she has originated the idea. She asks the tough questions and if you are not prepared to answer them then don't go on the show. If you think she is tough wait until you watch this british guy, the one who had Zuma saying "Eish Serious" on BBC, I've never been more embarrassed for someone else.

You don't necessarily ask to be on 3rd degree Calamity, Debra finds you if she wants your story. Do you think those doctors who lost their licences for giving out false sick notes asked for those cameras to be planted in their surgeries? Sufika ngeento zakho apha.

Kick-s, why ngo dlame dear, Calamity is just expressing his opinion LoL

Can we all just get along:-----)

Debra Patta is too emotional to be presenting this type of a show, I mean if you dont answer questions the way she wants--- she intimidates you and reminds you you are on her show,,,, I hate(ok, dislike) the way she makes those ugly facial expressions---> she should be eliminated and a new presenter should take over.

 Exactly Beyonce.

Anyway I watched the show lastnite...shame i really felt sorry for that girl who appeared first on the show...at least she will spend 4years in jail not 20-30 years. Shooow! I'd loose my mind completely if I had to be on her shoes...

could not agree more with wildcat, but i really believe that these victims should get another chance in life & society, they deserve to be treated as victims and not as the guilty ones.thumbs up for you Dera keep up the good work.

Hi there ppl
I also watched the show last night mainly bcos  Mandla is my neighbour,  It took some time b4 he got caught and no one believed he was the killer he was a sweet guy he made us believe otherwise. Makes you realise that no one is to be trusted.

TerryN

Jeez Beyonce, I was talking about those people who willingly go on the show, I think people know by now that Debra asks tough questions,
What those doctors did was unethical and they deserved to be exposed. There is just too much corruption in SA and I think Debra's heart is in the right place, I mean it is not nice to see poor people being taken for a ride by unscrupulous politicians. So what if she is emotional, wouldn't you be if someone came on your show and acted all nonchalant, I would be incensed.

I think the First Girl can be given a second chance.
And for that Dude no really i know that i am not God of this world but then when you kill someone because he/she cheated on you that's really not on, did you all feel the pain that i suffer when the Mother of the Died woman said he can say whatever about her cause now she is not here to answer back!!!

Dimago
13 Aug 2008 14:24

Eish, I felt sorry for all 3 characters. I can't imagine what they went through that led them to kill. I'm not making excuses 4 them, mara now they are stuck in jail with a guilty conscience...don't know who's better off, their victims or bona....

I know I am a bit late on this, but feel that I need to say something! I feel sorry for the 2 ladies who killed their men, but not for the quy. Candy I think did not do it with the hope of killing him, her sentence is okay, but still a bit harsh, she is already suffering, living with the thought alone!

Rethea really got a raw deal, she lived with the abuse for years and as she said she couldnt tell anyone, scared and WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY, she opted for that, which I think she saw as het only way out, and also for the sake of her child who begged him to stop! At that moment I think her child was the only thing she taught of, which led her to do what she did! She suffered enough, she was in her own hell hole with this monster! SO PLEASE GIVE HER A LIGHTER SENTENCE!!!

MANDLA I THINK NEEDS LIFE IN PRISON, killing her like a cow, and it would have been easier for him to start afresh, than killing her, and I think he planned it all, I DONT FEEL SORRY FOR HIM AT ALL!

I have never been to a doctor for a sick note. I hate going to the doctor. period. Kick-s why are ypu so vehement in your defence of those doctors. I love my job,I love what I do , hence I don't think I will ever resort to lying about my health.
