During Monday night's HSM: Spotlight SA Results Show Josslyn, Carl, Tsepho and Eloise became the first performers to leave the competition.
The episode started with accounting firm Alexander Forbes handing Pieter Toerien the official voting count which revealed that Carl, Dineo, Tsepho, Eloise, David and Josslyn had received the fewest votes.
Toerien consulted with the Creative Panel to decide which guy and which girl he wanted to save while DJs from weighed in with their opinions on who would be going home. For Algoa FM’s Carol-Ann Kelleher it was Darren and Courtney and Jacaranda’s Martin Bester reckoned it would be Eloise and Carl.
The six performers in the firing line had one last chance to impress. They each sang a High School Musical Song: the boys sang What I’ve Been Looking For and the girls When There Was Me And You.
Toerien then joined Dineo, Josslyn, David, Carl, Tsepho and Eloise on stage to break the news that he'd decided to save Dineo and David.
The whole company ended the show with the song, The Start Of Something New and the remaining returned to their digs where they're working on their performances for this Saturday (23 August).
To hone their skills and prepare them for this week’s performance show, the contestants will be spending time with South African singing sensation Lira.
On Saturday viewers will see how she shared her experience in the entertainment business with each individual performer, answered their questions and assisted musical director Charl-Johan Lingenfelder in coaching the performers with their songs.
The theme for this week’s show is Friendship - each performer will sing a solo and perform another acting scene from the HSM movie.
High School Musical's on M-Net on Saturdays at 19h00, with the Results Show on Mondays at 19h00.
