you and chores

the start of a weekend means long nights of partying and letting go of the week's frustations for some, for other like me it means a long hours of doing household chores.

this is what my normal weekend comprises of

Saturday-waking up as soon as the sun hits my bedroom window(see its almost impossible to sleep with the sun shining straight into your bedroom i figure i should stand up and start with households.)

i normally start by switching on the washing machine,i usually sort and load the machine the night before so i can just plug it in the morning.Oh thank God for wahing machine .

i start cleaning at the sitting room and dinning room while catching up on Generations and Ryhthm city.in between the lounge and dinning room i have my breakfst and before continuing i go hang the first load of the wasshing.

it will be around past ten when i eventually get to loo's.you see i prefare cleaning kneeling rather than a using a mop.i usually give the loos a thorough clean on saturdays(srubbing, disinfecting, refreshing etc)i usually just mop around during the week.

before i get to finish the loos i have to hang another load which i washed with a quicker mode as the clothes a bit darker.

then i go to the bedrooms and in betweeen i rest or catch up with whoever will
be in the house as i am usaulyy all alone with the dirt.

its 12h00.i just hanged my second last  laundry and the house is all spotless but wait the kitchen is still waiting so i prepare and have lunch so that by the time i finish with the kitchen then i wont need to go back and mess it up by preparing food.

finally the house is clean from kitchen to main bedroom and my laundry is also dry.

its around 3 and i take some moment to catch a snack before taking a long bath.

then i go back to packing the laundry-lucky enough my mother enjoys ironing-one less thing i have to be worried about.

but now it already 6 and i have to start thinking of dinner,ok its a Saturday so sphathlo will do and i have to foot the bill for mom, brother who have finally knocked off and my sister who decided to pop in right after i finished with the chores.

there you have it a whole Saturday dedicated to chores,i try to be clever and do some chores during the week but its hard as i cant do it as deligently as i do it on a Saturday. And yes of course i can just leave the house with all its dirt and just relax (u see there is a little bit of Bree fromDS inside of me though not as naive).

how do you guys cope with chores and do you have a schedule that makes work better cos clearly i cannot continue like this.

Ja libra...house work can be a pain. But if you feel like you dedicate your whole time/life on it, just pay someone to do it for you while you continue doing the things that matter to you.

Anyway, i also hate chores with a passion

nna i do the laundry during the week.......at night just before i go to bed and then hang them out to dry in the morning. that's the only thing i take care of during the week cause i only clean on Sundays......no housework on Saturdays.

I mop shem-last went on my knees when i was in high school. a mop was created for a reason.

Washing.......... i would die!!!! i'm so allergic to chores, i sneeze the whole time i do anything in the house, cleaning ironing anything, but i guess things have to be done. But laundry is just out of the question, fortunately i've got a sister who understands my condition. i do clean because its only fair to the people i live with, no matter how much i sneeze. Routine: Libra i dont have a routine, i only know that my duty to clean the whole house is on Monday qha!!! my bedroom gets special attention as many times as possible. i love cooking so that's not an issue.

Chores neh, okay. I stay alone so I clean, cook, wash and iron only when I feel like it. Usually I clean the whole place fort-nightly, after I have done my washing (which is also done once in two weeks). It can be handwashed or machine washed..go ya dependa. I used to have stamina and tackle the kitchen and loo through out the week but not any more..am tired! on saturdays I will clean the kitchen n loo and just sweep the rest. I hate ironing and again I'm stingy, so I iron my clothes atleast once a month instead of paying someone...1 advantage is that I go to work in jeans and t-shirts ...so now in my laundry basket there are still clothes that I washed in January...will get to them when I need them.

09 Sep 2008 03:36

You guys are disgustingly lazy maan! I sort of live alone so i only do chores 3 times a week (monday, wed & fri) my weekends are a no no. I must say my mum was very fussy so I think she did me a favour by telling me to do things her way.

Monday - friday: I clean bathroom & toilet everyday , so i pour dosmestos in the toilet before showering or going into the bath tub, then after i have taken a bath, i clean my bath tub with handy andy as well as the taps, then scrub the toilet, then the basin & floor wizz the floor.

the other 2 bedrooms are normally clean because there is no one occupying them, i just vacuum them once a month then dust them once a week.

with my bedroom, it doesnt get messy, before i sleep i make sure that everything is in its place, after sorting out my clothes for the next day i vacuum my bedroom if necessary, if not i just dust the furniture before i go to sleep

with the kitchen & scullery , after i have done the dishes plus pots, i mop the floor scullery only then dust the kitchen cupboards. if necessary or just wipe the floor with floorwizz.

I usually sit in my bedroom unless i have visitors so it's normally clean. i just dust it once a week. then by wednesday, everything is still in tact so there is no need to clean, then i do my washing before i sleep, luckily i have a washing machine and a washing line in my garage, I tumble dry my clothes and sort them according to different colours in baskets then hang them in the morning before i leave for work. then on friday, eish the ironing i must confess, i hate standing so i take them to the laundy mat on my way to work, collect them after work. hang them when i get home.

Saturdays i dont to much i just dust the furniture, because the toilets have been done in the morning after my bath & everything is clean. i just cook before going to a mall/ visiting a friend or just staying in, put food in the fridge........

so when i lived with my dad, i would do the washing in the evening, then the toilets in the morning after taking a bath, then the rest of the house after work, or wake up at 5 on saturdays so that by 10 o'clock the house is clean.

shoo i do a lot i just didnt realise this, but when you do most of your chores during the week esp the bathrooms everyday you dont need to slave away on saturday.

@ Felfel - Now u are starting to worry me, u seem like u have a certain disorder, this just doesn't sound normal, have u ever spoken to a dr abt this feeling u get when u see food? I can't understand what u are worried about, coz u are a pretty & well built woman, u are not even close to being over-wieght, let alone obesity, so why deprive urself of good food?

Zowee I said i enjoy cooking in winter not in summer, i don't have much of an appetite in summer hence all the fruit and ice cream. In winter i cook serious stews and casseroles.......

Pariri I'm the last person to go on a diet, its just that my food bores me sometimes and i respond to my cravings, which right now is ice cream and lotsa fruit, like i said it will pass, i just like nice things, i even buy canned fruit and have it with ultramel................

I mic my old days at Res....during the week, in the mornings i would just make my bed, take a shower/ bath & prepare my breakfast & straight 2 class, after classes (& class tasks) would just cook super & wash the dishes b4  went 2 bed coz i was living in a single room with no skwatta...
....only hoover once a week ....On sat mornings I would make my bed & prepare my breakfast & go straight 2 the laundry & come back 2 my room with my clothes dry &  would fold & hang them in my wardrobe (although most of the times it looks clumsy) coz i hate ironing....afterwards i would go & visit my family, freinds or boyfreind or go 2 the bash...or clubs..etc with my freinds of coz...
Now i'm back home we are more than 6 (i'm even  ashamed to tell the exact number).....but atleast we had a roster.....I love cooking especially sth meaty
Thanks god 4 the mom u've given me bcoz she likes doing washing & ironing for everyone in the house.....almost 4got she also love the spring cleaning thingy(although she always asks me 2 help her)....
I always try the easier ways 4 my chores so that they can not stand on my way on saturdays coz this day is a phul'iqolo day??

Reminds me of a dear friend that I never accept dinner invitations from. I am not a rabbit and therefore will never eat leaves and bushes and call it food. Ngunongekhehle lowo.

I love my stomach and it deserves to be treated like royalty.

Chores are a necessity because of my ma; she used to curse us out every time we left the house dirty. “You find someone all dolled up on the streets but her house looks like a pig sty” she still says today every time she visits, from the curtains to the cutlery she inspects.
